Title: Why this element of fear ...
Post by: Heba E. Husseyn on November 11, 2006, 12:48:21 am
when it comes to spirits?

the first thing that comes to peoples' minds in connection with the paranormal is fear.  yet (except in the movies) in real life there's not been a single incident where anyone has been hurt by a spirit or apprition ... not that i know of.  like zeynab was saying once, she's more scared of the living than the dead.  i couldn't agree more.  thus, i wonder what psychologist could explain this phenomenon of the human mind.  after all, aren't we all future ghosts?  ;D

LOL .. I've thought of this many a times myself.  Why this element of fear?  Though there's said to be evil spirits just as there are good ones, the evil ones don't hurt humans the way humans hurt each other.  Also, I don't understand why the portrayal of spirits is always accompanied with so much visual distortion by the human mind.  This happens mostly in movies, or in paranormal documentary enactments where spirits are made to look scary with disfigured faces and hands etc.  This is stupid.  If it's done for the purpose of entertainment, I fail to see what's so entertaining about it for it's certainly not realistic.  As per the Quraan, there's absolutely no reason to presume that when the spirit passes out of the body it changes its appearance for the worse.
