"Indeed, We revealed it (Qur'an) on the Night of Power.
And what will convey unto you what the Night of Power is?
The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.
The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Rabb, with all decrees.
(The night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn."
[Surah Al-Qadr, V.97:1-5].

Leilatul Qadr 2007

After Isha or Tarawi one only needs to look up at the sky on a cloudless night to realize that the blessed month of Ramadan is almost over.  As Leila-tul-Qadr nears:  Supplications for acceptance, forgiveness, and mercy from The Almighty, The One and Only.  It is that specific Night when the first Verses of the Quran were revealed to the Final Messenger.

The word 'qadr' means 'decree.'  It also means 'majesty or high esteem.'  But in this Verse it refers to 'decree.'  Leila tul Qadr or the Night of Qadr means the Night of Decrees.

Leila tul Qaadr is a very blessed night. It is the best night of Ramadan and the entire year.

It is the night on which Allah decrees His wise ordainments, appointing matters of life, death, sustenance, disasters, etc etc. and the angels descend with these decrees.  Allah says, which means:

"Indeed, We revealed it on the Night of Power.  And what will convey unto you what the Night of Power is!  The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.  The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Rabb, with all decrees.  (The Night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn." (97th Chapter of the Glorious Quran - Surah 'Al-Qadr')

Sending down the Quran on Leial tul Qadr does not mean that it was revealed all at once to the Prophet (pbuh). It implies that the Quran began being revealed on that particular day. It was then revealed in small segments, as necessary, over a period of 23 years of the Prophet's (pbuh) life.  Allah Almighty confirms in His Final Message that this Message will be forever protected on a "guarded tablet" (Lawh-ul-Mahfooz). In other words, it's a confirmation and an amazing prophecy that the Glorious Quran will always remain original and protected from corruption by human hands as happened with all the previous Scriptures.

The same applies to Allah's decrees. They are not formulated on this specific night every year. Rather, Allah, with His encompassing knowledge, knows all what will happen in future and has recorded it. On Leila tul Qadr HE issues His decrees in regard to the following year to the angels.  And Allah knows best as for the rest of the details.  We are not to speculate of what we have no knowledge.

Leial tul Qadr is the most blessed night. A person who misses it has indeed missed a great deal.  It is recommended to make a long Qiyaam leil (night prayers) during the nights in search of Leila tul Qadr.

It is also recommended to make extensive supplication on this night and all nights of Ramadan in search of the Night of Qadr.  This calls for abandoning many worldly pleasures in order to secure the time to spend with Allah.

Here is something important to know:

In the Glorious Quran the day or date of Leila tul Qadr is not mentioned, instead Allah only states that the Quran was revealed (that is, began being revealed) in this month (Ramadan).

"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong)."  (2:185).

Reports that Leila tul Qadr comes during an odd night among the last 10 nights of Ramadan (that is, 21, 23, 25. 27 or 29) have been derived from various man-written ahadith with NO evidence of authenticity.  This is NOT supported by the Quran.  Allah makes NO mention (not even any hints) on which day of Ramadan began the revelation of the Noble Quran.  It is possible that the reason Allah did not reveal the precise date of this Night was to avoid people from limiting their worship to just that one night.  This is an opinion.  The actual reason is only known to HIM.  Thus, the entire month of Ramadan must be spent in deep devotion to The Almighty.

So, one may ask, as Quran-only followers why do we observe the night of 26th Ramadan?  The answer is simple.  It doesn't matter which day of Ramadan we choose for additional worship in commemoration of that particular day.  No matter which day any one observes as Layla-tul-Qadr, will be a supposition as that actual day within Ramadan is known to Allah alone. The jurists have decided upon 27th Ramadan based on Hadith.  Thus we can also stick to that, not because Hadith says it, but for the purpose of unanimity and convenience as part of a community.  27th Ramadan is a presumed day for Layla-tul-Qadr, and if any one selects some other day, it would also be presumed.  It makes no difference as long as it's within the month of Ramadan.

The Quran is the Only Divine Book in the world today and forever until the Day of Judgement.  It is fully original and will remain so.  It must be remembered that the altered Old and New Testaments are NOT the counterparts of the Quran.  They are the counterparts of the man-written Hadith.  The Beautiful Quran remains a Standalone Book.

Also please note that there are various stories among people about the Night of Qadr and unusual incidents happening on this night.  Such stories are NOT reliable and must NEVER be accepted as The Almighty has given no reasons to accept them.

Leilatul Qadr 2014

With the traditional observation of Leilatul-Qadr being just one night away and our masjids sending messages about the last 10 days of Ramadan based on Hadith, it was refreshing to read the above information, kindly contributed by Brother Truth Seeker and Sister Zeynab, eliminating the Hadith guesswork and taking the facts exclusively from the Quran.

I thought of writing a fresh piece in this thread of the above information by compiling the relevant Quranic facts on the Night of Qadr for the convenience of our readers and how to follow the Truth despite the deviated interpretation of Hadith being far more rampant around us.

LEILATUL-QADR:

Today is 25th Ramadan 1435:

Leilatul Qadr (The Night of Power or Night of Destiny) is traditionally observed  on the night between 26th and 27th of Ramadan.

For those who do not know the significance of this Night:  The Glorious Quran, Allah's Final and original Message to  humankind, was revealed on the month of Ramadan and believers are ordered by HIM to fast for 30 days of that month from dawn to nightfall.

"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month ..........."  (2:185) Al-Baqrah.

"eat and drink until the white thread becometh distinct to you from the black thread of the dawn. Then strictly observe the fast till nightfall"  (2:187)  Surah Al-Baqrah.

Leilatul-Qadr ("Night of Power" or "Night of Destiny") marks the anniversary of the Night on which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) first began receiving revelations from God Almighty through the angel Gabriel.

We know for certain that it's one of the 30 blessed nights of Ramadan during which the revelation of the Quran began from Allah (The Highest) to beloved Muhammed (pbuh) as the Final Message for entire humanity for all times to come.  Only Allah knows the precise Night of Ramadan the Quran began being revealed.  The 97th Chapter of the Noble Quran, Al-Qadr, is about the Night of Qadr (or the Night of Power), that is, the Night the Quran was revealed.  Reference to the Night of Qadr is also found in Verses 3 & 4 of Surah Ad-Dukhan, Chapter 44.

"Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Predestination.
Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Night of Power is!
The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.
The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Lord, with all decrees. (The night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn."  (97:1-5)  Surah Al-Qadr.

"We revealed this (Quran) in a blessed night (Laylat Al-Qadr); for We wanted to forewarn mankind. In that night every matter is decided wisely."  The Glorious Quran, (44:3-4)  Surah Ad-Dukhan.

On this Night every year, Allah decrees His wise ordainments, appointing matters of life, death, sustenance, disasters, etc etc. and the angels descend with these decrees.  This has been confirmed in Surah Al-Qadr.

It is recommended to make lengthy Qiyaam-e- leil (nafl night prayers) during the nights in search of Leilat-ul-Qadr.  We search for the Night of Qadr throughout the month of Ramadan because Allah decided not to disclose its exact date.

Reports that Layla-tul-Qadr comes during an odd night among the last 10 nights of Ramadan (that is, 21, 23, 25. 27 or 29) have been derived from various Ahadith.  This is not supported by the Quran.  Allah makes no mention (not even any hints) on which date or likely dates of Ramadan the Quran began being revealed.  It is possible that the reason Allah did not reveal the exact date of Layla-tul-Qadr was to avoid people from limiting their worship to just that one night and ignoring the rest.  This is an opinion.  The actual reason is only known to Allah, and there is definitely a reason;  nothing with HIM is without a reason.  Thus, the entire month of Ramadan must be spent in deep devotion to the Almighty Allah, as much as our schedule allows us.

"We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden;"  (87:6-7)  Surah Al- Aala.

In the above Ayats, Allah says that He makes the Prophet remember those of His revelations which He wills.  Only Allah knows what is disclosed and what is hidden.  The date of the Night of Qadr is hidden.  It could be on any night of Ramadan, not necessarily on the last 10 nights.  Since Allah has decided not to disclose the exact date of the night of Ramadan when the His revelations began, we must accept it and not indulge in guesswork.  If we decide to follow the traditional practice of observing Leilatul-Qadr on the night of the 26th of Ramadan, it should be observed on that night with the intent of commemorating the Night of Power (whichever one it is) and dedicating our additional worship to that Night .... and only Allah knows its exact date in Ramadan.

Many Muslims spend the last ten days of Ramadan in seclusion, remembering Allah Almighty without worldly interruptions.  This is called E'tekaf.  It's a beautiful practice and these days of seclusion should be dedicated to the hidden Night of Qadr.

Br.TS a big thanks again for this post and your additional comment.

Many thanks Sister Heba.  That's an excellent recap of a very important topic, the most important step is taking the information meticulously from the Quran.

InshAllah, hope all of this helps our readers to understand the exact Quranic stance on Leilatul-Qadr.  Alhumdulilah.

Ameen, ameen, MashAllah.

Hia folks  helo    :) :)   May our observance of this great Night be fruitful.  May Allah grant acceptance.  Many thanks for this dynamic, all-inclusive piece written by Br. TS on Layla-tul-Qadr.  It helps each year in renewing the readers' knowledge.  All the best to everyone, have a great, soothing and comforting Layla-tul-Qadr.

Normally we would love to spend this night at the masjid.  But our past experiences make us feel observing it at home is a far better idea - more peace at home and we're able to pray more with better concentration.  Not to mention, the way many of our masjids have commericalized Laylatul Qadr as they've done with Hajj - several masjids charging over $150/- per family  arranging Laylatul Qadr in elaborate venues and costly metro centres.

You're absolutely right Sister Heba.  A family gathering at home offers a much more pacifying observance of this great Night.  I always do my nafls at home.  I've heard many people coming up with similar complaints - often too noisy and asking for too much money for attendance in the name of donation.

May Allah Almighty grant you and your family a blessed Leila-tul-Qadr.  Remember us all in your prayers dear Sister.

As-Salam Alaykum everyone.  May all of us have a blessed Layla-tul-Qadr on upcoming Monday night (Ramadan 26, July 14).

And thanks for remembering me sisters.  Alhumdulilah, yes, we're having a large family gathering in our extended family home in the hall on 1st floor.  All members of extended family would make up over 75 people, MashAllah.  Sister Heba's idea of bulk sandwiches and coffee is great.  We're having 2 snacks and coke/sprite catered (weather is too warm for coffee here) .. so no need for sahoor.  As we keep nimbling snacks during small breaks between prayers, reading of the Quran and lectures, everyone will have a full tummy by sahoor :)

Ameen.  That sounds lovely.   Btw, how have you folks organized it .. I mean what will be the steps?   At our place, first everyone to offer Isha, Isha nafl of 20 rakahs, then reading various passages of the Quran with translation (different people have selected different passages) and discussing over it.  Closing with another 8 rakahs of nafl .... and then Fajr.

MashAllah, very wisely planned.  Here it's somewhat the same with slight differences. Everyone will gather downstairs after Isha which they'll offer in their own suites, and start with Nafl (20 rakahs).  Then one of my uncles will do the reciting of the Quran and reading translations (several selected passages of Surahs) .  Then discussion.  Then 4 rakahs Nafl before Fajr.

Leilatul Qadr 2016

As-salaam Alaikum.  May all our sisters and brothers have a very blessed Leilatul Qadr 1437 (2016).   On this blessed night, make dua / supplications to HIM for all good things you need, want, as sincerely as you can.  InshAllah, HE will grant your requests if HE considers them to be truly in your interest.  Remember, only The Almighty knows what is good for us, we do not.  We often ask for things that would do more harm to us than good.  Therefore, make dua with the fullest of trust and Faith in Allah, The Almighty, requesting HIM to grant you whatever HE considers best for you.

Our guests who know little or nothing about Leilatul Qadr, kindly scroll up and read the two detailed posts on Leilatul Qadr by Brother Truth-Seeker and Sister Heba.

Is it on July 2nd?  Wow, see how fast Ramadan 2016 passed by.

Many thanks Sis Heba.  July 2 is the 27th day of Ramadan.  The Night of Qadr is on the night of 1 July .... unless our imams and jurists observe it a day earlier or after.  This often happens when they begin Ramadan a day or two later or earlier because of confusion in citing the moon.  However, I think this year, Ramadan starting on June 6  was correct.  So, InshAllah, Night of Qadr should be July 1 and July 27 would be the 27th roza.

Ameen, ameen, ameen, ya Allah.

Time really flies.  InshAllah, we will see through Ramadan 2016.  It went by so quickly.  Was a very enjoyable Ramadan as always.  Apart from seeking the Mercy and Blessings of Allah, this blessed month also provides great opportunities of family get-togethers.  All members of our family and extended families get more time than usual to spend in each others' company.  We must try hard to make each month of Ramadan as fruitful as we can for we never know which one might be our last.  The popular personality of our Muslim world, former boxer and human rights activist, Muhammad Ali, passed just 3 days before Ramadan 2016.  Ramadan began this year June 6, and he died June 3.  I'm sure he had already earned his blessings and by the time Allah Almighty called him for his final journey, his failing health had made him too weak to fast or even continue life.  However, it can happen to anyone, and while a person gets themselves ready to earn the blessings of Ramadan, their call may come a day or two earlier. Only Allah knows best when is the right time to call each one.  Nothing can be taken for granted.  May Allah Almighty grant peace and Jannat to Muhammad Ali.  Ameen.

Ameen ya Rab.

Yes brother TS .. and thoughtful of you to mention about the late Muhammad Ali.  We were so sadly shocked.  He was such a sincere who always fought for justice.  Let us all pray for his peace and happiness in the next world during our Leialtul Qadr prayers.  May Allah Almighty grant him Jannat.  Ameen.

Indeed he was a very noteworthy person of our Muslim community at an era when it's hard to find sincere people anywhere.  Very kind of you br. TS to mention him.  InshAllah, I will surely pray to The Almighty on Leilatul Qadr for the well-being, comfort and peace of Muhammad Ali in the next world.  Ameen ya Allah.   It was a very sad event.  And yes, he passed only 3 days before the start of Ramadan.

Leilatul Qadr 2017

June 21, 2017:  Leialtul Qadr Mubarak to all believers.  May The Almighty accept our heartfelt prayers in memory of the Day He revealed the Great Quran.  Ameen ya Allah.

May Allah grant the strongest of iman, peace and contentment to our families.  May Allah grant iman, peace, strength and sincerity to our honest members of the Ummah that truly want to remain sovereign and do not indulge in treachery with enemies.  Ameen ya Allah.

The month of Ramadan 2017 passed by so fast.  But every Ramadan teaches us something we never knew before which is remembered forever, and InshAllah, it will improve our record book which we will find wide open before Allah Almighty on the Day of Judgement.

Leilatul Qadr 2018

As-Salaam Alaikum dear everyone.

Leilatul Qadr 2018 will, InshAllah, be observed on the night of Ramadan 26th (June 10th).

In the Noble Quran, Allah Almighty has chosen not to mention precisely which day the Great Quran began being revealed to the beloved Prophet (pbuh).  Allah has only mentioned that the Revelation began in the month of Ramadan, that is, in one of the 30 days of the month of Ramadan.   Thus, extra worship is necessary throughout this month.  For the peace of our own souls, we want to select one day of this month as Leilatul Qadr when we must devote maximum time to prayers and the Quran.   We may pick that day as the night of 26th / fajr of 27th (as traditionally practiced) for the purpose of togetherness within our community during our worship of Allah Almighty.  Do please remember, the actual Day of Leilatul Qadr in Ramadan is known to Allah Almighty alone.  That might be the night of 26 Ramadan or some other night of the blessed month.  Allah-o-Alim.

Enjoy the following article from Islamic Finder (https://www.islamicfinder.org/special-islamic-days/laylat-al-qadr/)
(edited for Quran alone forum by omitting unreliable hadith information)

'Leila-tul-Qadr' or 'Night of Power' or 'Night of Decree' is a very important occasion in the history of Islam and in our personal lives.   Allah Almighty says:

"Indeed! We revealed it on the Night of Power. Ah, what will convey unto you what the Night of Power is!   The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.   The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Rab, with all decrees.   (The night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn." 97:1-5  Surah Al-Qadr.

Allah The Almighty also says about this powerful night:

"Ha. Mim.   By the Scripture that makes plain.   Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night.  Lo! We are ever warning.   Whereon every wise command is made clear, As a command from Our presence.  Lo! We are ever sending,  A mercy from your Rab.  Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower,"  (44:1-6)  Surah Dukhan.

The Almighty said in the Qur'an in Surah Al-Baqarah :

"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong)."  (2:185)  Al-Baqrah.

From the verses of the Qur'an, one can mention the following:

The Night Of Power is better for you to live, to experience and to enjoy than one thousand months of your life. Even if you were to live one thousand months (83.3 years) with sincerity, dedication, and sacrifices and with good intentions and deeds, the Night Of Power is still far better for you to live and to enjoy. The Revelation of the Qur'an started in the month of Ramadan and specifically on the Night Of Power. The Revelation of the Qur'an; a sign of Mercy, a guide and a blessing of Allah to mankind.  Anyone who is interested in finding the best guide, he/she should look into the teachings of the Qur'an. The Night of Power is a night of blessings.   Allah has blessed this Night. Therefore whosoever is interested in receiving the blessings of Allah may look forward to the Night of Power.

Concerning the sign of Lailatul-Qadr,  The angels and arch angel Jibreel, all descend down onto earth for many purposes.

On the night of Leilatul Qadr one may spend the time collectively and/or individually observing the following activities:

-  Recitation of the Our'an.
-  Nafl prayers (after Taraweeh for those who attend it).
-  Remembrance of Allah or zikr.
-  Supplication or Dua for you and for others.
-  Pondering and contemplating on the universe, the creation of the Heavens and the Earth:   "...and they contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heaven and the earth?."(Al Imran: 191)
-  Reading a good tafsir (commentary) of the Qur'an.
-  Giving charity to others if you can afford.
-  Trying to explain Islam, if you know something about it, to those next to you so they will benefit from you.

To summarize, We would like to mention the following:

The Night of Power is a very important occasion in Islam. Everyone is asked to live it and to enjoy it. This Night is a night of Mercy, a night of Blessing, a night of Peace and a night of Guidance. It is a night of Unification between the finite world of ours and the Infinite Universe of the Unseen. Anyone who is interested in attaining the Mercy of Allah will strive very hard to live and pray in the Night of Power. Anyone who is interested in receiving the blessings of Allah on the Blessed Night will work very hard to enjoy the Night of Power.

Our final supplication at the end of the Night of Qadr:

May Allah give us the strength, the power, the courage and the effort to do our best to obey HIM and follow HIS teachings.  Ameen ya RAB, ameen.

May Allah guide us and may Allah strengthen our Iman.  Ameen ya RAB, ameen.

May Allah help us to live another year with sincerity and devotion.  Ameen ya RAB-al-Alameen, ameen.

May Allah make us realize that one year of our life is over and that we are one year closer to making our final journey. Let us wake up and do our best to please Allah in our daily life.  Let us ask for forgiveness from Allah The Almighty.   Ameen ya RAB-al-Alameen, ameen, ameen.

Ameen, ameen, ameen ya RAB.

Whoever fails to acquire the acceptance of Allah, those folks have ruined their souls with their own hands.  How unfortunate!

Ya Allah, please save us from the doom.

Ameen, ameen.   May The Almighty grant us maximum guidance.

Speaking of Leilatul Qadr, and considering that a new day as per the Noble Quran begins at the crack of dawn (Fajr) when the slightest and earliest glimmer of light appears in the atmosphere, shouldn't the official observance of Leilatul Qadr start on the night of 27th Ramadan after Isha instead of night of 26th?  I mean, as our jurists practice at present, observance of the Night of Qadr starts soon after midnight of Ramadan 26, presuming that Ramadan 27th has begun because they are mixing up the clock calculation with the actual calculation of a new day starting from Fajr.   In reality, Ramadan 26 continues after midnight and ends at the start of Fajr which is Ramadan 27  .... and past midnight of Ramadan 27 is NOT Ramadan 28th, it's still Ramadan 27 until the start of Fajr.

Do you folks get my point?

I totally understand your point brother.  Correctly and logically, the new day of every month starts from the earliest moment of Fajr and ends at the following Fajr.   Therefore, 27 Ramadan begins from Fajr of 27.  After 12.00 p.m. (clock calculation) it's still 27th until the start of Fajr (dawn).  As you rightly said, our jurists are implementing the earthly clock calculation;  consequently, what they consider to be the start of Ramadan 27 is actually the continuation of late night 26.

Concerning Leilatul Qadr, the point is that observation of this Night on that particular calendar date is for the purpose of unanimity.  Since Allah Almighty has not disclosed the exact date of the Night of Qadr, we must put in additional prayers and Quran-reading on all 30 days of Ramadan and if we wish, we can pick a certain day of that month for the longest stretch of ibadah and dedicate it to the Night of Qadr.   So, even if the jurists are actually observing the Night of Qadr on the 26, it really doesn't matter from the perspective I mentioned.  But you perceived it spot on.  Past midnight of any day is not the start of a new day as per the Noble Quran.  Every new day starts at Fajr and Ramadan 27 starts from Fajr, not midnight.

Exactly sister.  This is what I meant.

Thank you for confirming my query.    Allah bless.

Salams dear sisters and brothers.   Ramadan 27, 2019 as today ....... I hope all of you got enough time to stay up last night to pour your heart out before The Almighty.  We certainly did.   As the blessed month gradually draws to an end, May HE accept our fasts, salat and supplications throughout the month.  May HE also accept the one night we especially pick and dedicate to the Night of Qadr (the specific day when the contents of the Noble Book began coming to us).   Yes, we don't know exactly which night of Ramadan that is.  Only HE knows.

It feels a bit sad when this blessed months begins to end.  No matter how hard we work to earn HIS pleasure, it always feels we haven't done enough.  Nor can we be sure whether or not we will have the privilege to stay around and experience the blessed month again the following year to earn more blessings.

Brother TS, I do get your point.   My husband and I have also long thought of this aspect.  Our clerical authorities have mixed up the clock-rules of a.m. and p.m. with the real time during which the earth rotates and revolves, and it's this real time we need to focus on for deciding the start of a new day.

Subhan'Allah, yes sister.  Pouring our hearts out before Allah and talking to Him was truly elating for all of us too.  By the mercy of Allah, it was a great Night.  And indeed it's depressing when the blessed month comes to an end.

Ya Rab, Alhumdulilah and shokran for helping us to come so far and experience that many days of another blessed month.  The 26th night of the blessed month, that is, Leialtul Qadr or the day dedicated most to the worship of Allah The Almighty, The One and Only, is just two days away .... on Tuesday.  Am I right, brother and sisters?

Please make plenty of dua.  Dua is always a much needed thing for everyone.  But this year it's particularly needed more than previous years of our lifetime.  All ongoing sufferings and injustices around the world - wars, occupations, apartheid, corruption, arrogance etc. -  are added with the scourge of a terrible pandemic caused by human carelessness.

The Mercy of The Almighty is to be sought.   O Allah!  Bless us with a pure life and an easy death and a return to YOU without grief and difficulty.  Ameen ya Allah, ameen.

Ameen, ameen, ameen.    That's such a wonderful dua.

Yes dear sister, you're right.   It comes on Tuesday night.  And big thanks for putting it up for 2020, brother ts.

The scourge of the pandemic, as you rightly said, turned this into a very different Ramadan for all of us.  Our Quranic readings and study, our prayers and zikr, have been only within our immediate families.  No Iftar get-togethers which is always so exhilarating.  Indeed a very cruel pandemic that not only takes lives and keeps families apart, but also greatly exacerbates the existing suffering of those who were already unprivileged.

Only Allah can help.   Yes, please make lots of dua.

Ameen ya Allah Jan.  What a beautiful du'a.   Thanks sis Zeynab .... and thanks sis Heba and br. ts for the reminder and nice words.  Allah bless.

May Allah The Almighty be with us in this temporary world and grant us a good report in the permanent world Hereafter.  Ameen.

As we are right into search for the Night of Qadr, it maybe tonight - the 26th night of Ramadan followed by the 27th day of Ramadan - or tomorrow or any one of the days in this blessed month of Ramadan.  Allah knows best.  May HE accept our efforts as we strive at the moment and will always do so as long as we remain in this earthly world.  And we remain here temporarily.  We will all have to return to HIM, everyone at a time appointed by HIM.

Let us remind ourselves, the first Words from Allah Almighty that descended on the beloved Prophet (pbuh) were the first 5 Verses of the 96th Surah (Al-Alaq).

Please note what Allah says in those 5 Verses.

BismAllah Ar Rehman Ar Raheem

Read: In the name of your Rab Who created,
Created man from a clot.
Read: And your Rab is the Most Bounteous,
Who teaches by the pen,
Teaches man that which he knew not."

Surah Al-Alaq (96:1-5)

Alhumdulilah, SubhanAllah.    First of all, please know, the term "man" refers to entire humanity, all humankind, not just to the male gender.   Most importantly, The Almighty refers to education, research and discoveries in the very first Revelation He sent to this world via Angel Gibreel who brought it to the Final Messenger.  The term "pen" stands for knowledge.  Every bit of knowledge in all spheres of life acquired by humans are facts and information already designed and created by Allah Almighty long before their discovery by the people.  In other words, whatever awareness we acquire in the field of learning through our reflection, cognition, hardwork and experiments, are works planned and ordained by The Almighty much prior to their discovery by humankind.   Every bit of knowledge is an indication of the Works of Allah.  Therefor every shred and every slice of knowledge we extract through our study and research is praise to Allah.   Unfortunately, humans are only interested in grabbing the credit for themselves, mixing up creation of knowledge with the discovery of knowledge.  Please note, knowledge (that initiates with the "pen") is planned, created and perfected by Allah.  And if Allah wants humans to acquire that knowledge, then humans discover it through study and research.  Otherwise they cannot discover it.  Thus, there remains many facts and phenomena (comprising of knowledge) inside and outside this world which humans still don't know and may never know, unless He grants permission.  Only HE knows the complete expanse of knowledge because He designed, prepared and created every portion of all facts and figures.

Thus, knowledge and discoveries are meant to compliment Allah Almighty, and NOT to be viewed by humans as their own creation to challenge Allah, as much of humanity pathetically tends to do.

Yes Sister Ruhi, very busy at the moment with my Leialtul Qadr duties.

I must say I learned a lot from your piece on knowledge by quoting Surah Al-Alaq.    SubhanAllah.  All praise be to Allah, The Highest, The Greatest.

May HE accept our efforts and grant us maghfirah in the Hereafter.  Ameen ya Allah.

Ameen .. very good idea.

With us, and with all of us under one large roof, it's been such a heartbreak keeping families apart because of the pandemic.    But getting easier now as lot of family members have gotten vaccinated.  Alhumdulilah.  But still precautions continue.  For Leilatul Qadr only my sister's family are coming over to our unit .. will InshAllah join the rest on Zoom like you guys.

Mash'Allah, wonderful to learn that brother.

InshAllah, as the vaccination rollouts speed up, things will improve.  But will be a slow process.  We need sabr and in the meantime continue trying to stay as safe.   Insh'Allah.

I pray you're parents are fine.  Insh'Allah.

InshAllah and Alhumdulilah .. yes Leilatul Qadr of Ramadan 1442 is on Saturday night.    How fast the month of Ramadan this year flew by.    That's how short life is .. and everyone without exception will have to embark on their Final Journey.

So nice to read all your comments.  Thank you brother TS.

Sister Heba, I recall the beautiful Leilatul Qadr events at your place in the past.  Those lovely reading and discussions on the Noble Quran ... and tons of chicken sandwiches, chips and coffee 🙂  I suppose it will all be on Zoom this time.

😐 Yeah Sis.   Unfortunately pandemic has ruined everything.  This year (same as last year which too was a pandemic year)  our Leialtul Qadr will be virtual, a large virtual gathering is planned InshAllah and Alhumdulilah.  They're trying to arrange it via 'Meet now.'

And yeah, chicken sandwiches and fries will be there with coffee and tea, but will have to prepare just a fraction of the quantity compared to before.   Only my immediate family will be the snack eaters 😑    In a setup like this, everyone needs to prepare for their own families only.
