Title: After Adam and his wife were expelled from Paradise
Post by: Ruhi_Rose on March 13, 2007, 05:41:49 am
 BismEm

Please read the following.  Your comments would be helpful.

I quote verses 36 to 38 of Surah al-Baqra.

But Satan caused them to deflect therefrom and expelled them from the (happy) state in which they were; and We said: Fall down, one of you a foe unto the other! There shall be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a time.

Then Adam received from his Lord words (of revelation), and He relented toward him. Lo! He is the relenting, the Merciful.

We said: Go down, all of you, from hence; but verily there cometh unto you from Me a guidance; and whoso followeth My guidance, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

(2:36/37/38)

I was trying to understand these Quranic verses and I thought it could mean that after being expelled from Paradise, Adam and his wife stayed in some kind of intermediary stage between Paradise and earth.  And by then they had multiplied somewhat in number which may perhaps be referred to, as in Verse 38, "Go down all of you from hence;"  Allah knows best.

Kindly give your feedback ..

 wsalam rose.

Personally I'm not sure if it means that Adam and his wife were in an intermediary stage soon after their expulsion.  I did once hear about a similar opinion, though I'm not sure if it was about these verses.  Concerning the verses you've quoted here, verse 36 is very clear where Allah tells Adam and Eve that they'll be expelled to earth where they'll live temporarily.  Verse 37 says about how Allah felt sorry or relented toward Adam.  I would think that Allah relented toward him while Adam and his wife were still in Paradise, shortly before being expelled.  And then, verse 38 is the final commandment of Allah for Adam and Eve to leave Paradise.  In my opinion, the term "Go down, all of you, .."  is an expression to Adam and Eve that also hints upon the futrue inhabitants of earth.  And Allah knows best.
