Title: "a word that had already gone forth from your Rab" - Verse 19, Surah Yunus

 BismEm

"Mankind were but one community; then they differed; and had it not been for a word that had already gone forth from your Rab it had been judged between them in respect of that wherein they differ."  (10:19)  Surah Yunus

More similar verses are contained in the Quran as well.  Would anyone know what the terms  ".. a word that had already gone forth" refers to?

In my opinion it refers to Allah's decision of fixing the time for the Day of Judgment.  It also strikes me that similar verses are contained in some other Surahs as well.  As reflected in this verse, there's a lot of turmoil on earth because of the differing minds of humankind which has led to ambitions, greed, chaos and destruction. As a consequence, many people have suffered, many have been wronged and some have even rightly learned their lessons.  This has been an ongoing process for generations throughout the history of mankind.  Therefore, Allah states that if the Day of Judgment was not already fixed by Him at an appointed time, then He would have already judged between such deeds of mankind.  But because He has already appointed the Day of Judgment ("a word that had already gone forth from thy Lord"), hence judgment will take place on that Day.

And, Allah knows best.

Many thanks br. Pt.  Yes, I'm quite sure you are right.  It makes perfect sense.
