Title: Merely offering salaah as a ritual isn't enough (Surah Al-Baqrah)

 BismEm

The commonest problem within the present day Ummah is their heedlessness to utilize the ideology of salaah (prayers) for improving their conduct and practical values.  They think that being a practicing Muslim or believer simply means to perform the 5 pillars of Islam as a ritual, without connecting these spiritual commandments to our daily lives for improving the qualities of our hearts & minds.

The following verses of the Noble Quran convey this concept loud and clear.  O Muslims, kindly read, understand and implement.

"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the God-fearing." (2:177)

"... Lo! worship preserveth from lewdness and iniquity, but verily remembrance of Allah is more important. And Allah knoweth what ye do."  (29:45)

"Ah, woe unto worshippers
Who are heedless of their prayer;
Who would be seen (at worship)
Yet refuse small kindnesses!" (107:4-7)

Alhadmulilah.  this is a wonderful and much needed concept to project.  the number of Muslims who are forgetting the fact that salaah and other rules of the 5 pillars of Islam are meant to strengthen our faith in Allah and reform our conduct on the basis of the Quraanic guidelines are getting larger & larger.  That is because they're ignorant or purposely ignoring the teachings of Allah as sent to us through the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and instead following their own favourite sheiks and imams whom they look upon as their 'celebrity saints.'  It's to be seen if such people are still able to maintain their worldy enthusiasm to defend their darling saints when they stand before Allah on the Day of Judgement.  Thanks for this very useful post, sister.
