Title: Those tons of Hadith that claim dogs are Haram as pets
Post by: Heba E. Husseyn on June 12, 2012, 02:42:01 am
We all know of those barrage of ahadith that lambast the poor dogs for no rhyme or reason other than Mr. Bukhari's madness.  The hadith followers have been so completely swept away by this man's irrational claims that they have made an outcast out of one of the loveliest animals in the world.  If you are in the company of hardline Wahabis, telling them that you have a pet dog at home could make you terribly unpopular with them .. probably an outcast like the dogs.  Though it's been hundreds of years since Bukhari & co. wrote those lies about dogs being "Haram as pets," none of their fans have yet bothered to verify it through the most important source and simplest source -  the Noble Quran.

In Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18), a group of young believing men fled from the community of disbelievers to avoid persecution and sought refuge in a cave.  Allah protected these believing men and granted them immense guidance.  And .. which animal (a pet) did these righteous men in the cave have with them?  A DOG (Verse 18:18).   Allah protected them along with their dog in the cave by keeping them asleep for a long time.

"And thou wouldst have deemed them waking though they were asleep, and We caused them to turn over to the right and the left, and their dog stretching out his paws on the threshold."  (18:18)  Al-Kahf.

The truth of the matter is, while Bukhari personally didn't like dogs, the Noble Quran presents dog as man's best friend.

jazak Allah u are right sister it's a matter of personal disliking and Allah know them.

And they assign unto Allah that which they (themselves) dislike, and their tongues expound the lie that the better portion will be theirs. Assuredly theirs will be the Fire, and they will be abandoned.16:62
