Title: November 11th
Post by: Ruhi_Rose on November 14, 2012, 11:55:55 pm
November 11 is widely observed as "Remembrance Day" in memory of those who died in WW1 and WW2.  But there is another event to remember as well on November 11.

November 11, 1831 - The hanging of Nathaniel (Nat) Turner just as he turned 31 years old. His body was flayed, beheaded and quartered. Turner was an Afrikan enslaved in America who led a slave rebellion that resulted in the death of 60 whites, the largest number of fatalities to occur in one uprising prior to the American Civil War in the southern U.S.A.

In total, the state executed 56 blacks suspected of having been involved in the uprising. In the aftermath, more than 200 blacks, many of whom had nothing to do with the rebellion, were savagely beaten and tortured to death.

O God!  hair raising, isn't it?   'Remembrance day' on Nov.11 in Canada and Europe only helps to obscure this reality.  And the United States is apparently too shameless even to obscure it.
