MashAllah, very good video, precise and up to the point.  Thanks sister Zeynab.

I think it's important to mention for those who know little of our history, that Ashura is one of Islam's biggest tragedies.

The first calendar year of Islam, or the Muslim new year is just a couple of days away.  But unfortunately it starts with one of the biggest tragedies in Islamic history.

Ashura is the 10th day of Muharram (the first month of the Islamic calendar). It was on this day that the grandson of the beloved Prophet (S), Imam Hussein, was martyred in an unequal battle he was forced into by the 2nd caliph of the Ummayad dynasty, Yazid bin Muawiyah. This day marks Islam's biggest tragedy which ushered the end of the Prophet's original teachings based on the Quran alone, and the Islamic community began being filled with the self-made rules by politically motivated forces.  Gradually sectarianism and sub-sectarianism became rife. It was after the martyrdom of Hussein when the Ummayad dynasty established itself did the culture of man-written Hadith officially become the most important part of Islam, dismissing the Noble Quran completely. The Hadith culture spread rapidly among both sects of Islam - Shiias and the Sunnis.  Please know, Hussein and his family you see in this movie were MUSLIMS as per the teachings of their great, beloved ancestor, Muhammed (pbuh).  They never used the terms "Shiias" nor "Sunnis."

May Allah Almighty shower HIS choicest blessings on the beloved Prophet (pbuh), beloved Hussein and their entire family inclusive of all martyrs of this tragedy.  Ameen.

Thanks for all this info sisters.

Here is a movie, watch it whenever you get the time.  I myself haven't watched it fully but the parts I watched seems good, and everyone says it's nice.  It's about the safeer (ambassador or messenger) sent to Kufa by Imam Hussein.   Unfortunately it's in Farsi with no English subtitles.   I don't know why they didn't take the time to caption it in English.  Nonetheless, one may still enjoy watching.
