Title: What is the Ruling On Fasting if a Woman has a Miscarriage ?
Post by: muslima on July 21, 2014, 12:34:07 pm
 salamem

One sister had miscarriage , she was 7 weeks pregnant, mid of her 8th week she bleed and had heavier clotted bleeding.she told !  she passed ,a piece of thick coagulated blood,  like a piece of meat with no features, she saw that herself now 3 weeks had passed since she miscarried but she is still having light bleeding ,which changes colours , sometimes it’s dark brown , sometimes it’s look like RUNNY  liquid ( red Or brown in colour ) OR just spotting , her doctor confirmed by ultrasound that she is  empty , there aren't any fetal parts but few tissue are still there and it will remove /clean itself when her next cycle will come , return to normal .. thus her miscarriage bleeding is not completely stopped . BUT she want to keep Fast .. she was in deep grief and pain and has excessive bleeding so she didn’t fast she will make it up later.. but as our so called imams put women’s under uncleaned catogary , which is wrong , similarly according to them she falls under the ruling of menstruation, and she is not allowed to pray or fast until she becomes completely clean ….

I don’t see any problem with it , in above situation of continues spotting if she is ready to fast she must be encourage , though ibadh and fasting will help her in this grief ,please through some light , i don’t know if there is any Hadith involve on the issue of miscarriage  ?  so please guide if pregnant women facing such problem with bit longer spotting and light bleeding after miscarriage , and what make the difference if the fetus is fully formed  and what if the fetus is not  fully formed. ??? i don’t get that  :-\  I request clarification on the matter of Ramadan Fasting in both situations..

Comment please ?

Walaikum As-Salam.  The Quran does not stop menstruating women from praying or fasting.  The only thing not allowed in this condition is sexual intercourse for reasons of cleanliness and hygiene.  And of course, women can certainly pray and fast while they're pregnant or after a miscarriage regardless of bleeding or spotting.  But I'm sure no traditional imam or so-called "scholar" will ever agree to it.

Complete information in accordance with Quranic information is available in our post Does the Quran disallow menstruating women from praying/fasting? (http://muslimvilla.smfforfree.com/index.php?topic=919.0)  which you've already read.  Kindly check the details again to recall the important points.  This approach and rule is borrowed by the Hadith directly from the altered Christian bibles.  Those specific Ahadith along with the concerned biblical quotes are also given in this post for reference.
