With July 17, 2015 being marked as 1st of Shawaal (Eid-al-Fitr according to traditions), July 16 will be the last fast of the blessed month of Ramadan 2015. As we've always said, life is too uncertain and we never know which one might be our last and final Ramadan. Each year the month of Ramadan ends, we have no idea whether or not we will be fortunate enough to get another Ramadan in our lives. With much sadness in our hearts and with the spirit of al-wida (farewell) to Ramadan, our last day of fasting, last Iftar and the last night of prayer feels like a special time to immerse ourselves with thoughts of Allah and the next world, and supplicate. Never forget, Allah is always a very Keen Listener of our prayers. I would like to share the following duas for the last day of Ramadan which I received from Sound Vision. Duas which we should particularly not forget to recite on the last day of Ramadan. Oh Allah, please accept my prayers, fasting, and remembrance of You during this blessed month. Please forgive me for the shortcomings in my worship and help me improve by next Ramadan. Ya Allah, help me continue the good habits I have acquired during Ramadan. Oh Allah, please make me of the righteous, the guided, and those You love. Ya Allah, please guide me and my family to the Straight Path and help us become excellent Muslims for Your sake. I worship only You and only from You do I seek help. Please increase Your bounty for me Please increase me in knowledge and bless me with excellent teachers. Ya Allah, let me die in the highest state of Iman. (Do remember your loved ones by name in your dua). And now please also add two more duas which I love and recite daily. Perfect duas for the last day of Ramadan, and all days. O Allah, bless us with a pure life and an easy death and a return to You without grief or difficulty. While I have nothing against people greeting each other coolly and soberly for a successful month of fasting on 1st of Shawaal, I seriously hope there is NO extravagance to make it into a big celebration, whether at home or publicly. That's totally unwarranted in the Quran which states nothing such as a 'celebration' after Ramadan. Month of fasting is a form of worshiping Allah as per HIS command, and Monotheistic worship is never marked by a celebration at its close. It's worth congratulating each other for our spiritual achievements. The healthy ones are expected to observe all fasts with prayers, reading of the Quran, charity as per their means and plenty of introspection and soul searching as a means to improve spiritually and practically for the future. Those unwell with medical probems, or too old or frail unable to fast can continue with prayers and additional prayers, reading the Quran with reflections and paying for the food of a needy person (if they can afford). Whether young or old, poor or rich, healthy or sick, everyone is can do something within their capacity .. even if bed ridden then just a heart full of love for Allah that gets still more overwhelmed in Ramadan. Surely all such actions & feelings are worth acknowledging with greetings and praise for Allah and best wishes for believers. But sorry folks, partying, giving costly gifts, a fashion parade with pricy new clothes, cooking a dozen different dishes to decorate the dinner tables are just NOT compatible with 1st of Shawaal. If you must at all cook in plenty, cook something simple in bulk or order for distributing to those who generally cannot afford good food. No need sharing with your rich relatives and friends.
