We know of enough unflattering stories of Israel's close ties with the kingdoms and sheikhdoms in the gulf region.   But Morocco with its secluded geographical location at the far end of North-West Africa bordering the Atlantic ocean has remained secluded and hidden.  It's generally viewed as a tourist destination and a country with diverse physical features.  Unfortunately its ideology and policies have a similar sordid story as the rest of the so-called Muslim monarchies .. only that Morocco's permanent dalliances with Israel are more discreet than other Arab states.  Morocco is generally viewed by the West as a country with the right leadership that can "bridge gaps" between the Arab/Muslim world and Israel.  Reference Morocco News Board. Morocco is perhaps Israel’s closest friend in the Arab world.  King Hasan II of Morocco actually preceded most other Arab leaders in proving himself as one of Israel's earliest loyal serfs.   Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, "Hassan developed a relationship with the Israelis on many levels. Delegations of specialists from the two countries had many meetings, secret and open, on subjects such as security, diplomacy, agriculture, transportation, and journalism," writes PaletineFacts.org. (http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_1967to1991_hassan_peres_1986.php)   According to the same source, in 1986  just prior to the first Palestinian Intifada, Hassan II invited Israeli PM, Peres, to his palace.  Officially the visit was reported as Hassan's effort to persuade Peres to restore the 1967 borders.  However there were no announcements of any such agenda during Peres' visit and the meeting ended without any results.  In 1994, an Israeli embassy in the name of "Israeli mission" was surreptitiously opened in Morocco.  Most likely this underground mission still exists in the country.

As in the case of Jordan, Egypt and UAE, one can enter Morocco even if their passports contain evidence of travel to Israel or indicate Israel as their birthplace.

When he died in 1999, the top echelon of Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Ehud Barak and the Moroccan-born Foreign Minister, David Levy, flew to Rabat for King Hassan's funeral. Starting with the arrival of the first dignitaries, the funeral proceedings were broadcast live on Israeli television for hours."

Haaretz  (http://www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/jewish-world-news/1.597394)reports Moroccan Berbers' move to strengthen ties with Israel.  Berbers are an ancient non-Arab warrior community of North Africa, most of whom embraced Islam in the 9th century.  Prior to that they were either Jews or Christians, mostly Jews.  The Berber Jewish community is still very active in Morocco and as stated, has excellent relations with the Moroccan government.  In the summer of 2014, Israel's Haaretz reported that a group of Berbers within Morocco decided upon a movement to curb anti-Semitism, strengthen ties with Israel and plan tours of Moroccans to Israel.

'Generosity'
Moroccan government has a lengthy tradition of sending gifts to the Zionist state.  In 2009 Israeli daily Maariv reported that Lalla Salma, wife of the Moroccan King, Mohamed VI, sent a gold necklace studded with diamonds to Tzip Livni.   It was supposed to be a covert demonstration of Morocco's foreign policy and an example for other Arab countries to follow suit.   But the news soon got around causing considerable embarrassment to the Moroccan monarchy and was soon denied by the Moroccan foreign ministry.  It dumped its action on the Jewish community of Morocco, members of which are very close to the Moroccan royals and also to the Zionist state, having periodically sent presents and souvenirs to Israeli politicians.   Maariv admitted that pro-Israeli segments of world leaders and civilians have been sending precious gifts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Israeli Knesset since decades but "Morocco's royal family is among the most generous."  Reference Uprooted Palestinians.blogspot.ca (http://uprootedpalestinians.blogspot.ca/2011/07/israeli-report-morocco-kings-wife-too.html)

The proxy US/Israel Saudi coalition and Morocco
Alongside Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Morocco is a confirmed participant in the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen.  The Moroccan monarchy has steadily maintained very strong ties with Saudi Arabia, and Rabat has been one of the favorite leisure time destinations for the House of Saud.

ON THE MOROCCAN ROYALS
The only bit of compliment to the Moroccan monarchy tells us that it was not created by the Brits, Europeans or Americans like the ones in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. But no big deal.  That has not helped to bring the slightest of improvement within its system.

Dynasty rules have been part of the Moroccan elite system for centuries. The country's present monarchy descends from the 17th century Alaoui dynasty which succeeded the Saadi dynasty.  Both deceived the masses with phoney stories of their family trees, falsely claiming their descent from the Family of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as have the "royals" of Jordan and Saudi Arabia, for the sole purpose of grabbing legitimacy.   Morocco became a French colony in the 1800s and was given independence in the 1950s.  King Hasan II came to power in 1961.  He was uniquely autocratic, anything but incorruptible and reportedly survived five or six coup attempts by the army.  He died in 1999 of natural causes and was succeeded by his eldest son, Mohammed VI.

The Moroccan royal family is known for its wealth and corruption.  It's the richest family in the country worth over $2 billion that owns one-third of Morocco and has shares in numerous businesses. The family's fortune has ballooned particularly since the time of King Mohammed VI.  No need to mention how.

The King married a commoner of Berber descent named Salma Benani in 2002 - now known as "Lalla Salma" - daughter of a school teacher in Fez.  "Lalla" is the Arabic equivalent of "my lady" in English, a term generally applied to elite women. She lived in a dismal apartment-building with peeling paint located in a  middle-class Moroccan neighborhood.  From rags to riches, Lalla (the gold digger) is lost in her extravagance.

Morocco is generally tagged as a stunning tourist destination with exotic fantasy images.  However, reality tells a different story.  With an unemployment rate of at least 10%, almost 5 million Moroccans live below poverty line, most of them in rural Morocco.

Despite such a plight of millions within the country,  Lalla's wardrobe is primarily designed by Chanel, Jean Paul Gauthier, Dior, Gucci, Prada and the largest houses of haute couture.  Her custom-made shoes come from Massaro, Fratelli Rossetti and Hogan. Her jewels from Cartier,  Van Cleef, Chaumet and more.  Perfumes from Maison Guerlain, Yves Saint Laurent, Patou.  But hang on!  All this might seem peanuts compared to a bird's eyeview of the monthly spending of the royal palace.  Wikileaks published a revealing report:

"The Moroccan King, Mohammed VI, spends £3.6 million ($8.8 million) a month on staff wages, £97,000 on car repairs and almost £53,000 on animal feed, according to a breakdown of the palace budget that has enraged his poverty-stricken subjects. Details of the lavish spending - the first time that the finances of a royal Arab household have been revealed - show that the king costs Moroccan taxpayers £144.6 million ($353 million) a year, 18 times more than Queen Elizabeth. The palace spends £632,000 on electricity and water, £600,000 on telephones and £355,000 on petrol and fuel. The monthly clothes bill comes to £121,000, while stationery alone costs £61,000. The Moroccan royal family's private wealth is estimated at £2.1 billion-£2.7 billion by the US financial magazine Forbes.
 
Morocco’s royal family is using the institutions of the state to “coerce and solicit bribes” in the country’s lucrative real estate sector, according to a leaked report from American diplomats.  Information about high-level corruption involving the rulers of Washington’s closest ally in north Africa was brought to the attention of the US consulate in Casablanca, Morocco’s commercial capital, by a businessman in 2009, leading diplomats to describe “the appalling greed” of those close to King Mohammed VI."

But the Moroccan monarchy couldn't give a flying fig for the revelation of such shameful facts. Even the mildest criticism of the Moroccan royal family is strictly prohibited. Try that on Moroccan soil and you might regret it for the rest of your life. The editor of  al-Misha’al, a weekly publication in Morocco, was sentenced to a year in prison in 2009 only for publishing a story on the king’s health. That's 'democracy' Moroccan style.  The West loves it!

Mohamed VI married quite late, in his late 30s or maybe 40.  After becoming king, he had to shift his perspective of life and produce an heir.  As a prince, he was widely known to be a philandering gay. Media reports from Netherlands have stated that while a student in Brussels (Belgium), the King's favorite hangouts were the gay nightclubs and bars.  Until a while ago (probably still), if you typed the search code "king of morocco" on Google, it would promptly give you the search result "king of morocco  gay" on top of the drop down list.  The article "Homosexual King of Morocco" by Ahmed Rami has been removed from the web.  Ahmed Rami, a Moroccan writer, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Islam) viewed the late King Hassan II as a puppet of the Jews and the CIA.  Ahmed participated in the attempted coup of 1972 to oust the monarchy and subsequently sought asylum in Sweden.

In August 2014, the King's lack of charisma got him into an embarrassing situation.  He was mistaken for a drug smuggler while cruising in his luxury yacht around Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta.  As the Spanish police approached his yacht in their speed boats and demanded to know the identities of the king's party, Mohammed was livid and yelled, "do you know who I am?"  When the officers replied "No," he had to remove his cap and sunglasses to prove his identity.  Reference Daily Mail Online. The Moroccan government and the country's radicals have been at loggerheads for decades.  Neither of the two sides are worth writing home about.  Their animosity has no grand principles as both are inclined to corruption and unconditional obedience to imperial powers.  The antipathy stems only from ambition and the desire to control.

After the ouster of Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak in early 2011, Jordan and Morocco suffered a silent panic syndrome.  While Jordan's Abdullah felt relatively safe with Israeli protection readily available next door, Mohammed VI was more uneasy.  He devised a comical plan to buy the peoples' confidence and avert any chances of the same fate as Ben Ali or Mubarak.  The clown kicked off a performance as a very pious King and subsequently claimed that deep spirituality helped him to "weather the storm blowing through the Arab World and take Morocco down a path of reform, not revolution" writes the crazy BBC on the propaganda visit of 'Heart and Soul' documentary team to Morocco in 2012 with a theatrical image of the fraudulent king stoically setting off on a horse wearing traditional garb and prayer beads in his hand greeting a bunch of Moroccans.  Thanks to the illiteracy and longstanding cowardice of the Moroccan people.  Or probably not. Those who stood around the King's horse were likely handpicked by the Palace security.  Grounds like these are almost always prepared by none other than the Government including "bussed in" government supporters in every pro-democracy rallies in Morocco.

According to the country's constitution that has never been amended for the better, this former gay has absolute power.  He can dissolve the parliament, rule by decree, and dismiss or appoint cabinet members.  He decides on national and international policies of the country. He is the chief of the armed forces and can also make or change religious laws.  Reportedly he doesn't even empower any other branch of the government to run the affairs of the state in his absence while frequently holidaying in Europe. His birthday on August 21 is a public holiday in Morocco .. believe it or not!
