Title: Whether single or married, zina is a big sin for all
Post by: Zainab_M on September 12, 2017, 01:23:55 pm
 BismEm

A lot of purposeful misinterpretation has been floated by certain circles (with selfish motives of course) that if you are single, then extra-marital sex is a much lesser offence than if you were married.  This very incorrect notion is an interpolation of an already existing interpolation from Hadith which has set separate punishments for single and married individuals committing extra-marital sex.  As we know, Hadith falsely claims that only single people committing extra-marital sex to receive lashes while married persons guilty of the same violation to be stoned to death.  This law of stoning is NOT from the Quran.  It has been borrowed from the altered Bibles and it's supposed to convey the concept that for single individuals extra-marital sex is a less serious sin.  Besides being flatly wrong (extra-marital sex is a BIG violation for everyone, single or married), this interpolation has gradually pushed the minds of laggards toward greater leniency prompting some Muslim men and women to presume that extra-marital sex between two single people is okay and a  person  only needs to be careful if he or she is married.  Let us clear this gross misconception, once and for all.

In Arabic there is only one word for extra-marital sex, that is,  "zina."  It stands for both adultery as well as fornication.  Both these violations defined as "zina" are completely HARAM as plainly confirmed in the Noble Quran.

In the English language, if an unmarried or single person (man or woman) has sexual relations with someone, they will be committing the sin of fornication.  If a married person (man or woman) has sexual relations with someone outside their marriage, they will be committing the sin of adultery.  But in Arabic, I repeat, both these transgressions are called "zina."

The punishment for zina is mentioned in Verse 24:2-3 of the Noble Quran, that is, one hundred lashes.  For further information on the aspect of lashes, kindly read punishment of lashes not meant to inflict physical injury. (http://muslimvilla.smfforfree.com/index.php?topic=112.msg1500#msg1500) The real, severe and permanent punishment for zina will be on the Day of Judgment.

On Verse 17:32, the Noble Quran says: (http://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=17&verse=32)

"wala taqrabu al-zina innahu kana fahishatan wasaa sabilan"  (17:32).

"And (do) not go near adultery.  Indeed, it is an immorality and (an) evil way."

The severity of the transgression of zina is placed at the same level as shirk and murder.  This has been confirmed by The Almighty in Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 68.

"And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty."  (25:68).

Therefore let our sisters and brothers have no doubts whatsoever, that your marital status has no bearing on the severity of the sin of zina.  Sexual act between any two persons who are not together in marriage is zina and this has been asserted loud and clear in the Noble Quran.

Those who ignorantly commit zina and sincerely repent (do taubah) soon after and never again repeat this sin, it's very likely Allah may forgive them, InshAllah, as He is very Forgiving and Merciful.  But those who repeat the sin after repentance or those who don't feel the need to repent at all will end up hurting their souls immensely on the Day of Judgment.

Right Sister, there are many who harbor this ugly idea and they will have to pay in the next world, InshAllah.  These are the type of folks who invent lies about Allah and think that Allah is not aware of their selfish motives that lead them to acquire such ideas.  That hadith on  wudu washing away sins (http://muslimvilla.smfforfree.com/index.php?topic=3536.0) is one of the aspects responsible for the minds of many young Muslims getting as depraved as this.

"And when they do some lewdness they say: We found our fathers doing it and Allah has enjoined it on us. Say: Allah, verily, enjoins not lewdness. Tell you concerning Allah that which you know not?"  The Sublime Qur'an (7:28).
