Title: Cancer more rampant than heart disease
Post by: Ruhi_Rose on September 04, 2019, 12:54:22 am

Until recently, cardiac disease was the leading cause of death around the world.  No more.

That's now eclipsed by cancer for which only the human society has itself to blame.   According to studies, cancer is more pervasive within the rich and upper segments of the global society.    While awareness campaigns and better education have helped many to modify their lifestyles for improved heart health, positive lifestyle changes to reduce the risks of cancer feel too cumbersome or too insignificant to a lot of ignorant and self-obsessed assholes.  Despite knowing the grave dangers of smoking, many not only obstinately persist in it, they also expose their families, friends and pets to second hand smoke.  Additionally, even those who smoke outside their homes are carriers of deadly pollution when they step inside their homes after smoking a cigarette .. .. causing contamination via residual tobacco-smoke filled with carcinogens left on walls, furniture, carpets, cushions etc. whatever they touch (third hand smoke).    Cell phones, hair colors, numerous cosmetic products, household cleaners, laundry detergents, toiletries, non-medicinal ingredients in vitamin pills, food preservatives (particularly the citric acid & sodium benzoate combination leading to formation of benzene), junk foods, home renovation materials etc. etc. are all loaded with chemicals and synthetics, many of which are confirmed carcinogens.  That's how frightfully beleaguered we are by mutagens, toxins and poisons.   But no one cares nor do they want to know.   Not to mention, the deliberate silence of governments and corporate industries for protecting the global marketing strategy, more money and better economies - all at the cost of health and lives.  Head spinning!  Hard to believe but true, there are just too many in the developing world who don't even know of the dangers of asbestos.

May Allah Almighty guide the ignorant and the egocentric.

I'm not too surprised but shaken to know that health experts are now acknowledging it.

Not surprised either.  It had to happen sooner or later.  Sister Ruhi is right.  The global society is absolutely overwhelmed with killer stuff ... a variety of them.   We've come to a point when no matter how hard we try to stick to natural, it's impossible.  You cannot produce the daily commodity products like cleaners, toiletries, detergents etc. at home.  You have to buy them .... and they aren't 100% safe.  Far from it.

At least our family and extended family home is strictly a no smoking zone  :)
Yet some idiots do bring in third hand smoke.  But now we're also trying to discourage that.

That's really good brother ..... though I think banning 3rd hand smoke isn't easy.  Btw, smoking in the Middle East is getting less common, I hear.  True or false?

Not true sister, unfortunately  :(  Many of them who claim not to "smoke" take shisha.  There's no difference between that and smoking.   Both equally harmful.
