It has plenty of practical significance and we are expected to achieve many of those purposes for improving the quality of our amal (conduct). Please read the following important lessons of salah and never forget them. 1) It brings men and women closer to Allah. 2) It keeps human beings away from indecent, shameful and forbidden acts. 3) It is a training program designed to control evil desires and passions. 4) It purifies the heart, develops the mind and comforts the soul. 5) It is a constant reminder of Allah and His Greatness. 6) It develops discipline and will-power. 7) It is a guide to the most upright way of life. 8) It is a proof of true equality, unity and universal fraternity based on the boundaries of Faith, not geographical borders. 9) It is the source of patience, courage, hope and confidence. 10) It encourages physical cleanliness, purity and punctuality. 11) It develops gratitude, humility and refinement. 12) It is the demonstration of our obedience to our Creator. 13) It is the best program preparing oneself to strive utmost to please Allah The Almighty. If your salah does not improve your conduct, you need to think seriously and carefully about where you are going wrong. If your conduct does not improve, it's an indication that you are merely parroting your salah and not paying attention to it. If you don't understand Arabic, please also learn the translations in your language of Surah Fatiha and the Surahs you recite after it in your salah. Thus it will be easier for you to understand your salah, reflect on it and implement Quranic values in your life to improve your amal. Parents should consider it their most important assignment to help their children with this project.
