Title: Spanish Flu 1918
Post by: Heba E. Husseyn on January 16, 2021, 02:29:12 pm

Well yeah, there was a pandemic back in 1918 and those guys were a lot smarter than the unadjustable, lifestyle obsessed morons who are currently encouraging the Covid virus to spread, spread and spread.

During the Spanish Flu

This image was taken during the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918.  It lasted for two years from 1918 to 1920.  Though it was more than a century ago, the people were far more civilized particularly in the western world.   They understood what rave party animals don't at the moment.

Health rules are defined by the rules of health and medical science, NOT political science and its distortion of the concept of freedom.  Currently the scale of ignorance has risen to the extent that concerning the mask it's commonly heard from aggressively silly minds "it's my body and I'll do what I please"  WRONG !!    That can be true if it's about clothing or eating habits.  But when the world is fighting a losing battle to control a highly contagious disease during a pandemic, your damn "body" can be a killer with its disobedience of essential rules of medical science.    What you do with your body is everyone's business who want to stay safe.  Otherwise you could end up killing many others.  Ignorant folks politicizing a serious pandemic could surely be cited as inadvertent killers.  In a pandemic, all it requires to exacerbate outbreaks is a single act of disobedience from a selfish mind lacking in education.  That's enough to drag hundreds, if not thousands, including the vulnerable onto harm's way.

Do your damn part.  Wear your mask, wash your hands, carry a hand sanitizer and always maintain social distancing with those outside your own household.

Last but not least, stay ready to get vaccinated in the near future.  STOP🚷 spreading nonsensical lies and conspiracy theories.

Denial of the pandemic is no different from a criminal offense.

A reminder that's both useful as well as amusing 🤩

Spot on Sister Heba.  Denial of Covid19 must seriously be made a criminal offense.

Furthermore, the fact that in 1918 the world population was only 1.8 billion, air travel much less rampant and economic profiteering a much lesser obsession, all of these points unlike the present, we need to be a lot more careful than they were a century ago.  Unfortunately that isn't true and thus Covid19 continues to spread, mutate and strengthen.   What a tearful pity!  😥

That bit about global population you mentioned is another interesting point, Sister Zeynab.

According to historical data, the first time the world's population hit 1 billion was in 1805.   It rose very gradually and took 122 years to proliferate to 2 billion in 1927.  And presently, only 94 years on (in less than a century) the world population is 7.8 billion !!   While in the past it took centuries for the world population to grow every 1 billion, in the last 94 years it jumped by 5.8 billion.  Astonishing.

Very correct and interesting assessment brother TS.   It's primarily because of sudden rapid advancement in medical science since the last 90 years or so that's helping many more people to live longer than their ancestors in the middle ages.  That's good, Alhumdulilah. At the same time we also need to realize that every such achievement in this temporary dunya has a downside too which needs to be taken care of.  When a small planet like the earth becomes so full of people, there is greater need to plan for cleaner living and following better health rules particularly to avoid infectious diseases.  Having said that, those filthy wet markets in China and SE Asia must be shut without any second thoughts.   Pandemics can be particularly devastating in a congested world.   That's precisely what we're seeing now, along with illiterate minds flouting restrictions, heedlessness about the risk of spreads through air travel and many a greedy governments too focused on the economy putting profit before people, no wonder we're facing such a harrowing time controlling the pandemic this time.

Very true Sister Zeynab, every word of it.  My dad was saying much the same thing the other day.   Longevity has been handled to carelessly by humans that instead of becoming a blessing, human selfishness has turned it into a nightmare in an overly congested world.

Many thanks Sister Heba.   I did read the article earlier in the summer of 2020 but would like to see it again, Allah willing.  And do certainly look forward to watching this video, Insh'Allah.
