Glass lid on stainless steel cooking pan

AsSalam Alaykum and hi all.  Have a quick question about a new cooking utensil I bought.  It's a stainless steel saucepan that has a glass lid on it.  I haven't used such a one before.  On checking the literature, it says "tempered glass lid" but mentions nothing about cooking with it or not, unless it's taken for granted one can cook with the lid on.  In that case my apologies for being so stupid    However, a fast feedback would be greatly appreciated.  I presume it might be something like pyrex.  Thanks folks ..

Yeah sis, tempered glass lid is perfectly safe to cook with.  It won't break, don't worry.  'Tempered glass' is glass that's been strengthened and tested to stand high temperatures.  Most tempered lids have a steam vent as well.  Just remember to turn the lid in such a way while cooking that the steam vent is away from you.  I guess it's different from pyrex.  Pyrex is still more heat resistant that can also be placed in a hot oven.  As far as I know, pyrex is a mixture of glass and certain chemicals.

Last year my sister gave me a stainless steel cooking container set of 3 sizes with temp glass lids on my birthday.  These lids are great for cooking.  You have the added advantage of being able to watch the food while it cooks despite the temp glass getting foggy.  But like sis zeynab said, keep the steam passage vent away from you to avoid even the slightest of steam burns.
