As Allah says in the Qur'aan that only He knows what is in the womb, some people try to refute this saying that this isn't true anymore because modern medicine can find out the sex of the unborn child. In this regard I would say ...

Unlike the Hadeeth which is a chain of human narrations and therefore not at all free of flaws, the Glorious Qur'aan is a Divine Message which is perfected and unassailable, Alhamdulilah.

Certain aspects explained in the Qur'aan are simplified for the people who lived during that era, in the 7th century.

It is very true that today, in the 20th & 21st centuries, the gender of the unborn child can be confirmed through medical procedures like ultrasound and sonograms. However, when Allah says that only He knows what is in the womb, it does not only refer to the gender of the fetus, but also refers to its general development. It's important to know that every fetus is not healthy. Many have various medical problems and deformities. Again, some such problems can be detected through procedures like ultrasund etc. but most of them are discovered and diagnosed at birth. Therefore, inspite of the modern medical procedures for detecting medical problems, a huge element of the 'unknown' is very much there in the unborn fetus.

Besides, let's not forget, there's a great deal of 'unknown' regarding the practical, ethical and moral side of the fetus as well.  The fetus carries a human soul that has a life to live when born with a particular fate & destiny.  Every unborn fetus has its own fate and path of life when it comes into this world, the facts and details of which are known to Allah alone.  The fate of every living being gets unravelled gradually once they begin their living their lives.  However, the soul before birth (fetus) is simply a bundle of 'unknown' to us and known only to  Allah.

Hence, there's no doubt about the fact that only Allah has the complete set of information of that which is being carried in the wombs.

The statement below was made by a person in another forum propagating secular values.

"I know that the Qu'ran says that only Allah knows what is in the womb (male or female). Well, that just isn't true anymore."

My comments, to which he never responded, were as follows.  Just thought of sharing it with everyone here.

The Glorious Quraan tells us to reflect upon the revelations of Allah.  This means that we need to broaden our perception which many don't, unfortunately.  As Allah says in the Qur'aan that only He knows what is in the wombs, some folks try to refute it by saying that this isn't true anymore because modern medicine can find out the sex of the unborn child.

This includes its physical, ethical and spiritual development in the future.  First of all, it is important to know that every fetus is not healthy.
