November 01, 2023, 03:38:26 pm Zainab_M: Keep praying, praying a lot for Gaza. It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Do principles matter more to Canadians than the rest of the materialistic world?  A closer look at realism says 'not quite' in a melanchloly tone.

Among several others, the abhorrent practices of violence in sports and traditional seal hunt in particular have made quite a mockery of Canada's oft trumpeted claims of being peace-lovers and ardent defenders of animals' rights.

Violence and beating in daily life is intensely condemned in Canadian culture (and so it should be) but gross violence in hockey is not just condoned but considered lawful and macho.  The brazen double standard of this weird characterization appals me.  It's no secret that physically attacking and beating opponents during the game is often encouraged (sometimes even ordered) by parents and coaches.  It's also no secret that such violence extends far beyond the rink, affecting the lives of players, their families and fans / spectators.  Players or fans who might have received taunts and slurs pertaining to the game, often wait for the targetted individuals to leave the venue.  What invariably follows is a bloody brawl.  This culture of violence has turned the world of Canadian sports into a dangerous mafia of its own kind.

In spite of several debates on banning physical fights in professional and amateur hockey, almost nothing has been done to abolish this primitive practice.  And while it goes on, so many young men have either succumbed to their injuries or have been left maimed and disabled with a ruined future.

The concept of watching a sport in our civilized world is a recreational one .. a pleasant break for our minds from the humdrum of daily life.  Such a break is expected to comprise of a cordial atmosphere and amicable relations.  But what people watch is quite the opposite.  What's still more astonishing is that these spectators actually enjoy watching the ruthless beatings which is a part of the game.

Canadian hockey is the gladiator sport of the 21st century, barely different from those abominable rooster and dog fights staged for the entertainment of ignorant and rustic audience in some third world countries.

The brutality of seal hunt in the Northern territories of Canada is much too disturbing to talk about at length.  To touch this heartbreaking issue briefly, in a country like Canada where there's no dearth of food, seal meat is not a necessity to begin with.  It's mind boggling as well as infuriating to think that the idea of hunting seals, and worst of all, the mediavel method of killing them (by hacking them to death) are condoned and continued for the purpose of retaining the cruel practice of the aboriginal people that began in the dark ages or before.  What a shameful reason for a shameful act!  If at all, some stubborn minds refuse to quit eating seal meat, they surely have no excuse for refusing to acquire a more humane method of hunting.  Traditions can be good or bad.  This is surely a very bad one.  It doesn't even require a debate to assert the murderous brutality of seal hunt.  Why must Canada, that claims to be a picture of civilization, become a partner to such a blood-thirsty tradition?  It's truly baffling.  After all, if such a horrendous method of slaughtering animals  existed in countries such as Iran, Syria, Egypt or Pakistan etc. for the purpose of upholding old traditions, the Western media would have acquired a permanent agenda for defamation of traditions.

What makes our little planet a truly unfortunate place is when glaring violations are supposed to change faces into acceptable practices from one geographical boundary to another.

Last but certainly not least .. it was staggering to learn that recently the City of Kelowna gave official permission to residents and farmers to shoot and kill wild rabbits that enter their yards or farms.  This step was taken by the City at the request of certain insensitive Kelowna farmers.  Though their claims were largely exaggerated, they complained of an early-spring influx of wild rabbits coming out of their habitats for a 'spring treat' and ravaging their farmlands.  Canada is one of the richest countries in the world.  There's no shortage of volunteers as well as hired helping hands.  Would it really be too difficult for the City to plan a spring project with volunteers and hired workers for carrying out a sterility treatment program instead of shooting these lovely animals?  Where there's a will, there's a way.  It would NOT be dfficult at all for the City to handle a sterility program for rabbits.  But they simply prefer the easy way out.

However, it was encouraging to know that not every resident of Kelowna B.C. welcomed the City's cruel 'go-signal.'  There were several residents who did actually catch and leave quite a few rabbits into the wild after making them sterile.  It was also pacifying to learn that the reportings on Kelowna farmers being given the permission to shoot wild bunnies created a public-relations problem for the City.  I can only pray and hope that the City of Kelowna revokes this shocking permission sooner rather than later.

Things would be left unfinished without a quick talk on the notorious political games
outside the rink.  Canadian politics is no less manipulative than the politics of the wider world.  Canada has enough 'expertise' for putting on a double-face in the act of renouncing violence and drifting with the tide of opportunism.

In addition to Canada's admiration of Zionist rule in occupied Palestine, it was disappointing to learn of some more stupid and sneaky games being played recently within its political area.

The Dalai Lama, who occupies a place second to the Vatican in most Western minds, the lone cause being the DL's phoney image of 'peace,' has been given unconditional support by Canada.  Canada has conveniently ignored the DL's covert plans of orchestrating street violence .. one of the sharpest Canadian U-turns from being supporters of 'peace' to supporters of calculaing crooks.

Prior to this, Canada showed no sympathy nor any understanding for the long-suffering Kosavars who declared independence last February.  Every Canadian politician and analyst had nothing but harsh words for Kosovo's government.  Canada's self-motivated stance for the sole purpose of 'keeping up appearances' with the Quebec separatists has ignored one of the world's worst humanitarian crisis endured by the Kosavars and Bosnians during the 6-years of Balkan war that left 1.5 million of them killed, raped or displaced.  Few of us can forget the daily exodus of human cargo from Kosovo to no-man's land in early 1999 resulting from the relentless ethnic cleansing by the Serbs.  It made the heart of Europe look like the heart of Africa.  Yet, Kosovo's declaration of independence wasn't enough to refresh Canada's short memory.  I won't get into the details involving Canada's recent and eventual recognition of that country's independence.  However, it ought to be known that this recognition was an outcome of compulsion, not compassion.  Canada deserves no credit for it.

To conclude - no one is special.

To be precise - both kindness and unkindness are scattered around the world.  We might as well step out of our reverie.  Insensitivity and injustice dwells in the hearts of Canadians as much it does in the hearts of so many others.

Thanks for gathering all the vital points to expose a North American hypocrisy.  Of all the double-standards you've mentioned, I find seal hunt the most shameful.  On this issue, Canada's also shows its hypocrisy on tolerance.  It keeps bantering on tolerance and the seal hunters are so intolerant that after Paul Watson's comments (he is the president of the sea conservation), they are not allowing the seal hunt protesters enter the dock.  Watson's comment was right on.  He said that the recent death of four sealers who died after their vessel capsized was tragic but the killing of thousands of seals by the seal hunters was a much greater tragedy.  lol ---- that got the seal hunters pissed.   Read this story at National Post
