It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Asalaamu Alaykum!

I am a new convert to Islam, and have thus far broken it seems all sorts of laws; I don't pray five times  a day, I eat pork still, and I don't wear a hijab. I am drawn to the Quran and Allah only and a friend of mine told me about this forum.

So how am I to carry on? How am I to visit a mosque or have Muslim friends if I'm Quran only? Anybody have any resources they could give me? Links, documents and the like.

Thanks muchly!  thebesem

BismAllah ... and Walaikum Salaam, Jenny.  Thank you for joining our board introducing yourself  teethsmile

Most importantly, welcomed to Islam - the most beautiful Faith in the world and the only ultimate Truth.  Praise be to the Almighty Allah, and peace, love and blessings on the final Messenger and his predecessors.

First of all, Jenny, let me tell you .. the term 'Quraan only' has been misinterpreted in many ways by different groups and individuals in the Muslim community.  So, one needs to be careful about it.  Many of them have even manipulated it to suit their personal motives.  Just like the Hadith traditionalists, there are many modern traditionalists (calling themselves Quraan aloners) who study the Quraan selectively, only picking those parts of the Quraan that they consider okay and ignore those portions that don't suit their convenience.  There are other sections of 'Quraan aloners' that disrespect or completely reject the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).  Such attitudes and approaches are by themselves totally against the dictates & values of the Noble Quraan.  To be a Quraan-only Muslim (which is the only kind of Muslim Allah wants us to be, and which is the only Message which the final Messenger delivered to humanity at the behest of Allah Almighty) we have to accept the Quraan in its entirety.

I am a new convert to Islam, and have thus far broken it seems all sorts of laws; I don't pray five times  a day, I eat pork still, and I don't wear a hijab.

While I realize that for some reverts it can be difficult to give up many of their old practices, however, it's very important that after embracing Islam they begin to analyse their lifestyle along with their Faith as they keep reading the Noble Quraan.  In the process, all those aspects (both spiritual and practical) that have been prohibited (Haram) in the Quraan must be given up.

As for wearing a hijab, it's a matter of personal choice.  The Quraan does not specify it.  But the Quraan does specify that both men and women must dress modestly, which would mean not to wear revealing or very tight clothing.

Eating pork is totally forbidden (Haram).  The Quraan has said it in very clear terms.  You would need to reflect and do some soul searching as you read the Noble Quraan.  The love and devotion that gradually develops in one's heart provides them with the will-power to abstain whatever the Quraan disallows.  If you think of it, there's such an array of Halal foods everywhere in the stores that giving up just a few Haram items like pork and alcohol should not at all be difficult for anyone.

There are quite a few Muslims who do not adhere to the routine of offering five prayers daily for some reason or another.  Sometimes it's because of a hectic work schedule and sometimes it's just negligence.  I would suggest that you gradually try re-adjusting your schedule as you continue reading the Quraan.  Even if you're unable to catch on with all five prayers daily (which actually is not at all difficult once started), begin by praying once or twice a day.  If you are unable to memorize a few short Arabic Surahs for prayers, try to memorize the English translations of those brief Surahs and recite them while offering one or two prayers a day.  Always depend upon the Quraan for guidance and advise, along with your own rational thoughts and reflections.  Clarifications come more easily this way rather than depending or getting influenced by Muslim or non-Muslim friends.  Talking too much with different people having different personal ideas & notions often results in one confusion after another.  At the end of it, please know, that prayers or salaah when offered with full concentration and devotion with its values implemented in our practical lives, is a wonderful way of strengthening our Faith, cleansing our souls and acquiring perfect peace of mind.  Offering prayers is obligatory for every believer otherwise they wouldn't be giving themselves enough opportunity of getting close to Allah.

So how am I to carry on? How am I to visit a mosque or have Muslim friends if I'm Quran only? Anybody have any resources they could give me? Links, documents and the like.

Dear Jenny, you can meet with all your Muslim friends and visit the mosques.  Being a Quraan-only Muslim doesn't mean to isolate oneself.  Yes, I realise, you might have disagreements with several mainstream Muslims if you pick up a discussion with them on issues of Hadith and sunnah.  I would advise you not to get into such discussions with those  who have accepted too many interpolations in the Faith.  Accept whatever they say that's in accordance with the Quraan, and simply ignore those Hadiths & fatwas that are unconnected with the Quraan.  If you're attending congregational prayers at the mosque (and I would advise you to do so), you might hear the imam narrating many fatwas or hadiths in his khutba (sermon) that aren't warranted by the Quraan.  All you need to do is to ignore silently.  That's why I mentioned, always come to the Quraan for guidance.  If you want to discuss anything, you're more than welcomed to put your questions here.  However, do attend the mosque and participate in community work and get-togethers arranged by various mosques.  That's a very positive move.

As for resources, links and documents .. we have plenty of them right here in our forum Smiley  That's the reason I'm running this forum to give true information of what Islam actually is and the importance of weeding out the negative innovations and human interpolations that aren't supported by the Noble Quraan.  If you carefully go through our Quraan, Islamic Issues and Hadith boards, things will get a lot clearer to you .. InshAllah.  You'll also find that all our posts have proper references and logical analysis in accordance with Quraanic rules / values and human conscience / rationality as bestowed upon us by the Almighty Allah.

I'll give you a few links on the questions you raised in this post, as follows:

A member very recently asked some basic questions.  If you check the thread in the link below, you'll find answers on hijab and other issues you might be interested to read.

Some random questions that are bothering me

Also check these links:

Offering Salaah five times a day - some Muslim modernists claim that prayers can be offered 3 times a day.  This claim is refuted from evidence in the Quraan which calls believers to remember Allah (i.e. offering prayers) five times daily.

Why Islam Forbids Pork

Feel welcomed to post your reply in any of the links posted above or begin a new thread in the Quraan or Islamic Issues board.  I would advise not to post discussions on  this thread as this is basically for introductions.

I thank you again, dear Jenny, for coming by.  Hope to see much more of you around this place Smiley  Take care.

May Allah (The Highest) bless you with the light of guidance, InshAllah, ameen.
