It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

BismEm

As-salam Alaiykum dear sisters and brothers.  Me up for Fajr salaat, Alhumdulilah.  Just read in the Quran, Verses 5:3 and 5:90 that mention the prohibition of "divining arrows."  Would anyone know what precisely this system of divining arrows refers to?

"And (forbidden is it) that you swear by the divining arrows."  (5:3).

"O you who believe! Strong drink and games of chance and idols and divining arrows are only an infamy of Satan's handiwork. Leave it aside in order that ye may succeed."  (5:90).

Allah bless all of you.   Looking forward to the information.  Will be back in the evening, InshAllah.

Walaykum As-Salam.  May Allah, The Highest, accept your fajr salat, Sister.  InshAllah, ameen.

I was just now about to log out when your question arrived Smiley

Divining arrow refers to a superstitious practice common among pagans in 7th century, maybe even now kuffar practice it.  It's the effort of seeking knowledge of the future through superstitious means.  That's its literal meaning.

This method of seeking future knowledge is also mentioned as rhabdomancy in the dictionary, involving the use of a rod, stick an arrow. Divination or trying to seek future knowledge by arrows is also called belomancy in the dictionary. This was an ancient practice of pagans in Arabia, Babylon and Greece, using the arrow like a dart.  This is obviously the practice the Quran refers to.  These arrows were somewhat like shafts or sticks. The arrows were typically marked with black magic, witchcraft or wizardry symbols and were designed with feathers.  Several such arrows would be used. The different possible answers to a question asked by someone about the future or the unseen were written and tied to each arrow; then the arrows would be thrown in a particular direction.  The arrow that flew the farthest was supposed to  indicate the answer.

Thus in Verses 5:3 and 5:90 in the Noble Quran clearly forbids believers from indulging in such practices to seek knowledge of their fate.  This practice is called 'divining arrows.'   It's the same as fortune telling, soothsaying or future predictions.  Completely HARAM!

Salam again dear brother.  Many thanks for this brief, articulate and very comprehensive explanation making it thoroughly clear what this Haram practice involves.  I could figure out it was something superstitious followed by the kuffar but couldn't sort out what exactly they did a as I didn't know of those eccentric cultures of rhabdomancy and belomancy.  Just shows how far away into darkness the human mind can throw itself when it loses its grip on Faith.

I seek refuge in Allah, The MOST Exalted, from the evils of crass ignorance and lack of education.

Thank you for the details, my brother and sister.  There are several aspects stated in the Quran that we need to refrain from completely which are connected with ancient traditions.  Many of us don't know what those ancient traditions were.  To understand the Quran correctly, such explanations are very useful.
