November 01, 2023, 03:43:43 pm Ruhi_Rose: Yes .. making lots of dua everyday ..... watching those real life video clips, my face feels wet with tears all the time.  May ALLAH grant the best to these wonderful, brave & steadfast martyrs,  Ameen ya Allah.
November 01, 2023, 03:38:26 pm Zainab_M: Keep praying, praying a lot for Gaza. It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.
October 26, 2023, 03:40:19 pm N. Truth Seeker: Don't forget to look up MV Blog Zainab's Lounge for our Gaza updates.
October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.
July 29, 2023, 03:02:07 am Zainab_M: Yesterday was Ashura, Muharram 10, 1444 (July 27, 2023).  Read about this very tragic day and details of the world's greatest 7th century revolutionary: WHO WAS HUSSEIN.
June 28, 2023, 09:48:39 am Zainab_M: Walaikum As Salaam.  This was the first Hajj open to all after the pandemic. It was attended by 2.6 million Muslims.

7 Tips to Improve Your Relationship with the Qur'an

ARE you one of those people who rarely touch the Qur'an?  Or do you read daily, but don't find it is having the impact on you that it should?  Whatever the case may be, these are some simple tips that can help you connect with the Qur'an.

1. Before you touch it, check your heart.  The key to really benefiting from the Qur'an is to check your heart first, before you even touch Allah's Book. Ask yourself, honestly, why you are reading it. Is it to just get some information and to let it drift away from you later?  Remember that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was described and is known as a "walking Qur'an."  In other words, he didn't just read and recite the Qur'an, he lived it.

2. Do your Wudu (ablution).  Doing your Wudu is good physical and mental preparation to remind you that you're not reading just another book. You are about to interact with God, so being clean should be a priority when communicating with Him.  Cleanliness will make you feel more worthy of this very important interaction.

3. Read at least 5 minutes everyday.  Too often, we think we should read the Qur'an for at least one whole hour. If you aren't in the habit of reading regularly, this is too much. Start off with just five minutes daily. If you took care of step one, Insha Allah (God willing), you will notice that those five minutes will become 10, then half an hour, then an hour, and maybe even more!

4. Make sure you understand what you've read.  Five minutes of reading the Qur'an in Arabic is good, but you need to understand what you're reading. Make sure you have a good and reliable translation of the Qur'an in the language you understand best. Always, also read the translation of what you've read that day.

5. Remember, the Qur'an is more interactive than a CD.  In an age of "interactive" CD-Roms and computer programs, a number of people think books are passive and boring. But the Qur'an is not like that.  Remember that when you read the Qur'an, you are interacting with Allah.  He is talking to you, so pay attention.

6. In addition to reading, listen too.  There are now many audio cassettes and CDs of the Qur'an, a number of them with translations as well. This is great to put on your walkman or your car's CD or stereo as you drive to and from work. Use this in addition to your daily Qur'an reading, not as a replacement for it.

7. Make Dua (supplication). Ask Allah to guide you when you read the Qur'an. Your aim is to sincerely, for the love of Allah, interact with Him by reading, understanding and applying His blessed words to your faith and conduct. Making sincere Dua to Allah for help and guidance will be your best tool for doing this.

Now, this is a really lovely, lovely piece.  I agree with every bit of it.

I was kinda surprised that Basics of Islam Yahoo Group sent this message around.  They are very much into Hadith.  Sometime ago they also sent a similar message glorifying a bunch of Hadith narrations that they quoted.

Here's how they contradict themselves, and if you ask them, they won't have an answer so they'll get vexed.  Point no.1 says "Before you touch it, check your heart."  Indeed this is very very correct.  It further states "Ask yourself, honestly, why you are reading it. Is it to just get some information and to let it drift away from you later?  Remember that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was described and is known as a "walking Qur'an."  In other words, he didn't just read and recite the Qur'an, he lived it."  Again, very true and very well said.   This clearly and rightly means that the Prophet (pbuh) never said or did anything not commanded or required by the Noble Quran.  Yet, the very next moment, these same people who state such correct and beautiful views forget this truth and start quoting & praising Hadiths alledgedly narrated by Sahabahs that are totally unwarranted by the Quran.  Their such actions show that after confirming that the Prophet (pbuh) lived the Quran (which he surely did) -- these people highlight something very different.  Their mentality is so very unfair.

Yes, I hear your point sister.

This article by itself is beautiful.  I too keep getting periodical newsletters from Basic of Islam Yahoo! Group.  They're like Yahya Harun.  They usually keep the Quran and Hadith separate, and thus remain silent on Hadith contradictions of the Quran.

A very refreshing read come at a particularly good time when Ramadan is so near around the corner.  We must reshuffle our schedule so as to spare more time to read the Noble Quran.  Thanks sister zeynab.

And sister cat, your thoughts are well perceived as usual Smiley
