A lot about this is on TV today.  Something that caught my ears - a reporter, while rushing thru her story, mentioned that people were making preparations to evacuate in full swing with scores of volunteers on the spot to help.  Then she went on to say that lots of kennels and cat cages could also been seen as people had decided they would "even evacuate their pets."  The term "even" sounded real selfish.  I mean, it's taken for granted that at such a time every member of the household must move out together, and that includes pets.  Can anyone be inhuman enough to evacuate and leave behind their pets as if the pets were a piece of furniture in the house?  Or can anyone be heartless enough to evacuate and leave their pets outside to wander on their own as if they were a piece of garbage?  Anyone who is capable of feeling or doing such a thing is guilty of real gross violation.  Most importantly, such people should not even be allowed to adopt a pet.

Yes .. I absolutely read you sister.  Your perception is remarkable, MaashAllah.  Just as it's impossible for any family to move out of their homes without their kids, similarly it ought to be just as impossible to move out without their pets.  Those who aren't capable of feeling that way, or those who think that in times of emergency (of whatever sort) they won't be able to retain their pets, should not ever decide to bring a pet in their home.  That home is not meant for a pet.
