I think this is great news.  In the Canadian Atlantic province of New Brunswick, surgeries on animals that are done for purely cosmetic purposes with no health benefits like docking the tails of dogs, horses and cattle, and ear-cropping of dogs will no longer be done.  Such surgeries are mostly requested by purebred dog, horse and cattle owners who want to display their animals in shows.  But according to the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association, these procedures cause much discomfort and pain to the animals without any health benefits, and thus, should not be practiced.

This is very good.  It should have been banned long ago.  How can anyone be so selfish as to make their pets go thru the agony of surgery just to make them look more pleasing in their eyes?
