It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Is it necessary to be well versed in Arabic to truly understand the Qur'aan?

There are some sections of Muslims who state that it's absolutely essential to be thoroughly well versed in Arabic in order to understand the Qur'aan .. and not just that .. but those whose mother tongue is not Arabic are not entitled to participate in detailed discussions of the Qur'aan and Hadeeth.

Frankly I think that sounds racist  .. and needless to mention, racism has no room in the egalitarian doctrines of Islam.  Some  Muslims who nurture the above mentioned concept say that it's not about "racism" but simply the importance of fluency in a language.  However, such emphasis upon language skills leads to exactly the same kind of discrimination as the one arising from ethnic differences, preventing the recognition of the true merits of people who might not be Arabic speaking.

However, I would like to clarify this issue.  Needless to say, no translations of the Glorious Quraan can take the place of the original Arabic, Alhamdulilah.  To grasp the original beauty of the Qur'aan one surely needs to be well versed in Arabic.  However, it's also important to keep in mind that the Qur'aan is not a Book of literature, prose or poems.  It's a Book of guidance and commandments.  For conveying the importance of this guidance and understanding its contents & dictates, the original as well as the translations can go a long way in helping a person who's truly seeking Allah's guidance, depending upon whichever language they are able to follow best.  But to propagate that only the knowledge of Arabic language can make one eligible for discussing and following the Qur'aan is not at all true.

 wsalam sister zeynab

this is a sensitive topic and i'm glad u touched it.  though i haven't yet been involved in any such arguments but i know this feeling does exist in certain sections of the muslim community.

i recall, once a neighbor of mine was terribly upset.  he had a run-in with one of his colleagues at work who was arabic speaking who told him .. well, something to the effect .. that arabic speaking people will be given priority to enter Jannah on Judgment Day.  if what he said was true, it's sad that ignorance can make people even lie about Allah (subhan wa'tala), astaghfarallah!  but most surprising of all, how can one be so ignorant in the first place?

but of course everyone isn't the same.  most arabs are wonderful people, Alhamdulilah.

 wsalam rose

thanks for your comments.  yes, very true.  i've also found most arabic speaking persons to have a wonderful heart.  actually my post wasn't supposed to point at the arabs or any community in particular.  there are certain non-arabic speaking Muslims who also profess the same.

what i meant was, that this is just a notion which some people have in mind.  they have this thoroughly incorrect idea that the Quraan was revealed in arabic perhaps becoz arabic is a superior language, so they consider that study of the Quraan and Islam in arabic gives more sawab (blessings).  No doubt arabic is a beautiful language.  Most importantly, no translations can take the place of the original arabic language of the Quraan, and those who are able to read and understand it in arabic can indeed enjoy it a lot more.  But the reason why Allah revealed the Quraan in arabic was not becoz arabic is a superior language, rather it was becoz Allah wanted to send a Scripture to the people of the Arabian peninsula.  these people had gone completely astray and were in need of guidance.  the Torah and Gospel had been altered by the people of the Book, and moreover, these former Scriptures were in a language which the arabs could not understand.  thus, it became necessary to reveal the final Scripture to the arabs in Arabic language.  The Quraan itself clarifies this point.  but unfortunately today most people are unable to grasp it and they cook up their own explanations which have no bearing with reality.

Moreover, Allah (Subhanu Wa'Tala) reveals His Message in language of the messenger and the language of his people.

I have also come across some Arabic speaking persons, mostly online, who have hinted on their ridiculous belief that the highest place in Jannah is reserved for Arabs.  I've also observed that such people take for granted that the beauty of the original Quran is because it's in Arabic.  This view is quite off the mark.  The enormous beauty of the Arabic Quran is because it's the original Word of Allah.  Even if Allah had revealed the Quran in any other language, its beauty comprising of its eloquence and articulate style would still be unmatched for the simple reason that no one can compete with the abilities of the Divine Power.  As already mentioned in this thread, the only reason why the Quran was revealed in Arabic was because God wanted to send a reminder to the people of the Arabian peninsula who spoke only Arabic.

In conclusion I would say, the words of the Almighty Allah have an unique beauty which no human writing can acquire.  But the Arabs try to make it seem that the beauty of the Quran is because it's in Arabic.  Thus, obscuring the actual reason of its beauty which is the Quran's direct link with the Divine Power.

salamem  oh u have separate thread i was looking for let me share some interesting view regarding this topic in the light of quran verses. We are allow to chosse any language which help us to understand the message of Quran  perfectly.

And We make (this Scripture) easy in thy tongue, (O Muhammad) only that thou mayst bear good tidings therewith unto those who ward off (evil), and warn therewith the froward folk.19:97

And We have made (this Scripture) easy in thy language onlythat they may heed.44:58

Indeed,We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand.12:2

And We never sent a messenger save with the language of his folk, that he might make (the message) clear for them. Then Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Wise.14:4

And if We had appointed it a Lecture in a foreign tongue they would assuredly have said: If only its verses were expounded (so that we might understand)? What! A foreign tongue and an Arab? - Say unto them (O Muhammad): For those who believe it is a guidance and a healing; and as for those who disbelieve, there is a deafness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. Such are called to from afar.41:44

There are many non-muslims who read and understood Quarn in their own languages and convert to Islam if anyone understand arabic it's well and good ,no hard and fast rules NO strict condition of arabic language for NON-arabs Or mankind.purpose simply guidance and understandings ..

This is a declaration for mankind, a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil) 3:138

My queastion is ?,what about the arabs ?? Arabic is their mother tongue ,Allah revealed  in their language ??? they understand Quran ? they approved mistranslation of quran, with their full understandings towards arabic ?? Is their arabic is different then the arabic Of Quran ?? why supporting and creating lies against Allah ?? if anyone don't understand arabic too then ?? what is the benefits to only memorize or recite ,understand quran in arabic ? Only being certified in arabic is enough ???

Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.9:111

A very good question.  I've wondered about it many times myself.  If I spoke fluent Arabic like the Arabs, then all my problems would have been solved.  But the Arabs who speak Arabic daily seem to have much lesser knowledge than us when it comes to understanding the Noble Quran.   It's true that Quranic Arabic is very eloquent and of a high standard .. more beautiful than all of Arabic literature.  Alhumdulilah.  But this is not the reason why the Arabs know so little about the Quran.  The main reason is that their attention & affections are drawn much more to the Hadiths & fatwas of their imams.  These imams and so-called ulemas have imbedded the idea into their minds that they must not read the Quran independently on their own, and that if they have any questions they must ask the imams or ulemas instead of trying to find it in the Quran.   Therefore, when these Arabs have any queries, they never try to have recourse to the Quran directly. Instead they immediately take the matter to their community imam or "scholar."  The imam or scholar always answers the questions put to them with references to the extra-Quranic literature.  Thus, you will find many Arabs and non-Arabs alike who might have finished the original Quran speedily more than a dozen times but with a wandering mind.  They don't even bother to follow what they read because they are convinced that the explanations must come only from the imams & scholars.  That's how they've all gone astray.  I seek refuge in Allah from all such misguidance.

That's very true.  If you tell the imams that you read the Quran independently and utilize it as the Sole Criterion to detect the violations in the society, they will be furious.  They will never agree with you nor will they encourage your reading of the Quran.  This is the big reason why even the Arab readers hardly know of the contents of the Glorious Quran.

Another thing I've also observed.   There are so many bad and false hadiths that make the hadith followers very nervous and shy.  These hadithers often say not to interpret the hadith yourself but to ask the imams to interpret it for you.  LOL! Cheesy  And when you tell the imams to interpret a bad hadith,  they will either tell you that hadith is "not authentic" but won't explain why an unauthentic hadith is retained in a collection called "sahih."  Or, they will give a completely wrong explanation to hide their embarrassment .. an explanation which is clearly not reflected in that bad hadith.  I recall, when I was going through the horrifying experience of studying the hadith and was getting one shocker after another with the bulk of nonsense it contains, I told a neighbor of mine who was a staunch hadither, that Bukhari & co. was really mind boggling because it writes terrible things.  And she jumped up and said "don't try to understand it yourself.  Hadith is very special, we can't follow it ourselves.  You must take it to a respected sheikh to explain it to you."    LaaughingAway  I couldn't help cracking out laughing.  Reading the hadith is bad enough.  Reading it with the help of an imam is drowning yourself into professional & malicious ignorance.

i am agree with both of u sisters  viictery

obviously it's so stressing for poor imam's and scholars They know it if they encorage anyone to read quran independently then he/she will get the truth and they will lose their status ,because they have never read Quran they are specialist of hadith .people like to take shortcuts and easy routes to knowledge.hadth is a shortcut for lazy once's who don't want to learn and understand Quran.but.this shortcut actually make them extra ordinary dumb, brainwashed  Sad

sad ulma and scholar . Angry

And they forbid (men) from it and avoid it, and they ruin none save themselves, though they perceive not.6:26

We can just pray to Allah !!

Those who say: Our Lord! Lo! we believe. So forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire 3:16

Our Lord! Cause not our hearts to stray after Thou hast guided us, and bestow upon us mercy from Thy Presence. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Bestower.3:8

Wa'salaam.  Yes sister, this is exactly their problem which I've always said.  They know that allowing their naive disciples direct access to the Quran will get them out of business.   Such people were present in the world from a long time.  Majority of the Christian and Jewish priests & rabbis also followed the same trick.  For that reason Allah has mentioned about them in the Quran through those excellent verses you quoted.

This is a very dangerous world.  We have to be so careful whom we listen to.  Hardly anyone can be trusted.  That's the reason to be firmly focused on the Quran only.  If we need to interpret some issue of life, we must keep in mind the principles and values of the Quran for our decisions instead of asking an iman or some so-called ulema.  Their imaginations really run far & wide away from the Quran.
