Does the Qur'aan contain any prophecies about the future?  And have any of these proven true?  Let us see some examples of Qur'aanic prophecies that have already been fulfilled.
 
The first example is a prophecy that occurs in Chapter 30 of the Qur'aan.  In the first 6 verses Allah promised that the Romans who had just been defeated in the year 615 CE would turn around and win a decisive victory within 10 years.

"Alif. Lam. Mim.   The Romans have been defeated.  In the nearer land, and they, after their defeat, will be victorious.  Within ten years - Allah's is the comand in the former case and the latter - and in that day believers will rejoice.  In Allah's help to victory.  He helpeth to victory whom He will.  He is the Mighty, the Merciful.  It is a promise of Allah.  Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not."   30:1,2,3,4,5,6.   Surah Ar-Rum (The Romans).

At the time this statement was made, no human being could envision how it could come to pass.  The Romans had been so soundly defeated that no hope was left that they could make a comeback within such a short period of time.  The disbelievers mocked at the Muslims over this passage in the Qur'aan because they thought the prophecy would surely fail.  One man, Ummayah bin Khalaf, even placed a bet of a hundred camels that the prophecy would fail.  Abu Bakr, the closest follower of the Prophet, on whom be peace, took up that challenge because he was sure that the promise of God would certainly be fulfiled. True enough, within the specified period, in the year 624 CE, the Romans confronted the Persians in battle at a place called Issus.  The Romans won their decisive victory exactly as predicted in the Qur'aan, and Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, won the bet of one hundred camels.  In the meantime, however, revelation from Allah had prohibited gambling, so the Prophet directed Abu Bakr to give away the camels to the poor and needy.  So the prophecy was fulfiled.  But there is more to this.
 
The same verses contain yet another prophecy.  It mentions that while the Romans are winning their victory, the believers in the Qur'aan will rejoice in the victory granted by Allah.  We know from history that in that very year the Muslims were threatened with total annihilation, but Allah rescued them.  The Muslims had been driven out of Mecca, their hometown.  Now they found safe haven in Medina.  But the Meccans could not rest knowing that the Muslims were free to practice their faith in some other place.  So they marched against the Muslims with an army of 1,000 men fully equipped for battle. The Muslims mustered the best defence they could , a mere 313 men lacking suitable equipment for battle.  From a human point of view, the greater force would win, but the help of Allah was with the small group of believers.  Miraculously, the believers won and the Qur'aanic prophecy was fulfiled despite all odds. 
 
Another prophecy occurs in Surah 111 of the Qur'aan. 

"The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish.  His wealth and gains will not exempt him.  He will be plunged in the flaming fire, And his wife, the wood carrier, Will have upon her neck a halter of palm-fibre."  (111:1,2,3,4,5.)
Surah Al-Masad (Falm Fibre)

This Surah states that a certain man and his wife will perish as disbelievers.  This was uttered at a time when no one but Allah could say who will or will not become believers later on.  Many of the most bitter opponents in the early days became devoted followers in later days.  But not the two persons mentioned in this Surah.  They did everything to oppose, ridicule and disprove the Qur'aan.  One would expect that they would also pretend to become believers just to throw doubt on the accuracy of the Qur'aan.  But they did not apply this obvious strategy.  What prevented them, if not the power of Allah and the truth of His word?
 
"And in truth We have made the Qur'aan easy to remember: but is there any that remembereth?"  54:17  Surah Al-Qamar (The Moon)

In the words of Marmaduke Pickthall on this amazing prophecy of the Qur'an about the ability of humans to memorize it:

"It is a fact that the Qur'an is marvellously easy for believers to commit to memory.  Thousands of people in the East know the whole Book by heart.  The translator, who finds great difficulty in remembering well known English quotations accurately, can remember page after page of the Qur'an in Arabic with perfect accuracy." Unquote.  This is particularly amazing considering the fact that Arabic is a second language to many who have memorized it, including Pickthall. 

Nowadays all over the world Muslims are memorizing the Qur'aan.  Presently there are approximately over 6 million people the world over who know the entire Qur'an by heart. 
 
"And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former ..." (93:4)
Surah Ad-Duha (The Morning Hours)

This is an early Meccan Surah.  As explained by Pickthall, the prophecy in this Surah that "the latter portion would be better for thee than the former" must have seemed absurd to those who heard it, as this was one of the hardest times in the Prophet's (PBUH) life when he was going through the most intense of persecutions from the Meccans and other pagan Arabs of the region.  Yet, the latter portion of the Prophet's life, the last 10 years, is the most wonderful record of success of human history. 
 
"Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate, And eased thee of the burden
Which weighed down thy back; And exalted thy fame?"  (94:1,2,3,4.)
Surah Al-Inshirah (Solace) ... meaning relief from anxiety

This is also an early Meccan Surah revealed at a time when the Prophet was facing endless opposition while conveying the Divine Message.  Again, Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall explains that most probably Surah Al-Inshirah was revealed upon the same occasion as Surah Ad-Duha, at a time when the Prophet was derided and shunned after being respected and courted.  The words "And exalted thy fame" must have struck the disbelievers as ridiculous.  It refers to the inward assurance which the Prophet had received by revelation, and speaks of future events as acomplished, as is usual in the Qur'aan, the revelation coming from a plane where time is not.  Verse 4, speaking of his fame as exalted must have seemed particularly absurd at that time of humuliation and persecution.  But today, from every mosque in the world, the Prophet's name is cried, as that of the messenger of Allah, five times a day and every Muslim prays for blessings on him when his name is mentioned.
 
Let me add a few more. 

Have they not seen that We have appointed a sanctuary immune (from violence), while mankind are ravaged all around them ? Do they then believe in falsehood and disbelieve in the bounty of Allah ? (29:67)

The above verse referring to the safety of Mecca is true upto this day. Since the passing away of the Prophet (pbuh), so much has happened around the Muslim world involving violence and internal strifes and wars,  but the Kaaba and it's surroundings have been affected to the minimal.  Except for some damage caused during the early days after the death of the Prophet, the security of Mecca has far exceeded any other place.
 
"They question thee about strong drink and games of chance. Say: In both is great sin, and (some) utility for men; but the sin of them is greater than their usefulness."  (2:219)

This is interesting.  Medical experts today say that alcohol is moderation might be good for the health.  At the same time, it has numerous drawbacks also known to professionals that far exceed its benefits.  In the above verse, Allah (Most Merciful) says that there is some benefit in wine but the harm is greater, thus it ought to be avoided. Allah already knew more than 1400 years ago that medical experts today will discover that 'little benefit,' so He told us about it. This is yet another amazing prophecy of the Glorious Qur'aan.
 
Verses like these of the Glorious Qur'aan with such accurate prophecies prove beyond doubt that the Qur'aan is a Divine Message .. beautiful, pure and original .. a gift and a miracle for humanity from the Almighty.

Here's another prophecy I came across as I read the Quraan tonight:

"Indeed! He Who has given thee the Qur'an for a law will surely bring you home again. Say: My Rab is Best Aware of him who brings guidance and him who is in error manifest." (28:85) Al-Qasas

"Indeed! HE Who has given you the Qur'an for a law will surely bring you home again."  28:85.

Subhan'Allah.  The above Verse is such an outstanding prophecy!  It was revealed to the beloved final Messenger (pbuh) when he was fleeing from Mecca to Medinah to save himself from the brutal persecution by the idolaters of Mecca.   Prophet Muhammad  (pbuh) was born and raised in Mecca.  Leaving your hometown and not knowing when or if ever you will be able to return is emotionally tough for every one.  It was no different for the beloved Prophet (pbuh).   When he (pbuh), with one of his closest companions, Abu Bakr Sidiq (ra), were on their way out of Mecca, sometime soon after The Almighty comforted him (pbuh) with this Verse.  The content is remarkably true about a then distant future event.  At the time the Prophet (pbuh) was leaving Makkah, he had no idea if he would ever be able to return. But the fact was that he did.   After the bloodless conquest of Mecca, the Prophet (pbuh) and the Muslims of Medinah could freely enter Mecca without fear, Alhumdulilah.  However, the Prophet (pbuh) chose to spend his final days in Medinah, and left Mecca after the final sermon. 

It's a remarkable prophecy.  During the time when the Prophet was forced to leave Makkah, persecution of Muslims was so rampant there and the tribal chiefs of Makkah displayed such tremendous hositility that it was impossible for anyone to imagine if ever in future it would  be safe or possible for the Prophet or any of his small group of followers to return to Makkah.  Verse 28:85 is a categorical statement which proved to be absolutely true just 10 years later.

As I keep reading the Glorious Quraan carefully, again and again, I keep coming across so many prophecies that have all come true by now.   Here's another one .. the very first verse of Surah Sad.

Sad. By the renowned Qur'an,   (38:1)

At this time the Quraan was in the process of being revealed.  As we know, it was not an easy time for the Prophet (pbuh).  No human being could predict at this period that the Glorious Quraan would in future become such a famous and renowned Book all around the world.  But Allah knew it at that time and mentioned it accordingly.  Praise be to Allah.

BismAllah .....,  this article is just the perfect one to read particularly in Ramadan.  As you keep reading the Qur'an, you keep coming across more and more very accurate prophecies of the Noble Qur'an.  Here's another very correct prediction by the Qur'an about the Jews.

"And We said unto the Children of Israel after him: Dwell in the land; but when the promise of the Hereafter cometh to pass We shall bring you as a crowd gathered out of various nations."  17:104  (Surah Bani Israel)

The above verse is a reference to the dispersal of the Jews in all parts of Europe and in some parts of North Africa from the land of Israel.  Their dispersal was an outcome of their own decisions.   As we see today, it's so very true.   Presently, despite returning and wrongfully usurping the land they left a thousand years ago from the Palestinians who remained there always, the Jews are still scattered in various parts of the world.

Another great prophecy of the Quran is contained in post What is the Guarded Tablet and its significance? Allah tells us that the Quran is on a "guarded tablet" and that Allah is Himself the "Guardian" of this Book.  In other words, Allah promises mankind that this Revelation from Him will forever be preserved for which Allah Himself takes the responsibility to do so.  The proof of this truth which Allah revealed in the Quran more than 1400 years ago is today right before our eyes.  Even though the imams and sheikhs love to manipulate matters and have thus written the Hadith and other extra-Quranic literature, yet somehow they just could NOT tamper with the Glorious Quran.  Alhumdulilah and Allah is the Greatest!

Yes, praise be to Allah.  When we talk about the prophecies of the Quran, the Quran states the greatest prophecy about itself -- that it will always be protected.  That's exactly what's happening and will continue till the Day of Judgment.  Allah is the Greatest.

As we keep reading the Noble Quran, we see for ourselves how loaded the Final Divine Message is with so many great and truthful prophecies.  We only need to read carefully and reflect a little.  On reading Surah Al-Anbiya, I came across another amazing prophecy.

"And there is a ban upon any community which We have destroyed: that they shall not return,"  21:95

Now, just read the above verse and think for a while.  This tremendous prophecy has proven very, very true from ancient times uptil today.

Please know, it doesn't include the minor political changes of modern days through 'elections' and constitutional amendments and all that stuff. 

The reference in the above verse is change in the overall infrastructure & ideology of a society that contains a system spreading wrong practices & values in the name of civilization.

For example, to name just a few,that worked corruption and have been annihilated after the term ordained for them elapsed.

- rule of the Pharoahs

- Roman empire

- European 'stalwarts' of the dark ages viz. vikings, huns, barbarins etc.

- power of the Catholic church and inquisition

- slave trade society of America

- Nazis

- Soviet Union


And at present, we are experiencing the global tyranny of other similar 'powers' viz. Zionists, U.S.A. and E.U. misusing their authorties by perpetrating injustice and falsehood (propaganda).  Allah Almighty is watching and tolerating them.  Whether or not He brings about their downfall depends upon the future attitude of these communities.  However, if Allh decides to make them fall at any time in future, they too will never return like their predecessors.

Another remarkable Quranic prediction where Allah Almighty informs His Messenger beforehand that the Messenger will  fulfil his desire by performing pilgrimage in Makkah.  At the time this verse was revealed, Makkah was still ruled by the Qureysh. 

"Allah has fulfilled the vision for His messenger in very truth. You shall indeed enter the Inviolable Place of Worship, if Allah will, secure, (having your hair) shaven and cut, not fearing. But He knows that which you know not, and has given you a near victory beforehand."  48:27  Al Fath  (The Victory)

We will observe that there are many Quranic prophecies where God Almighty mentions a future event as already achieved.  The starting lines of the above Verse reflect the same style.

And this is another spot-on prophecy !!

"And you will surely hear much wrong from those who were given the Scripture before you and from the idolaters.  But if you persevere and ward off (evil), then that is of the steadfast heart of things." (3:186  Al-Imran).


Isn't this exactly what is happening at present around the world, they're all the time bad-mouthing the Noble Quran ?

Alhumdulilah, remarkable prophecy in V.17:104 without a doubt. 

I just want to correct the commentary, Sister.   This commentary is by Pickthall, if I'm not mistaken.  It's based on the post WW2 political ideology that the Semite Jews gradually dispersed from the Holy Land to Europe.  Though I'm pretty sure Pickthall didn't know about this back then, neither did he mean it, however this commentary is incorrect and its purpose is only to justify the 1948 theft of Palestine from the Muslims.  Those Jews who lived in the land of Palestine (then known as Philistine) were the ones or the descendants of the ones who participated in the Exodus with Prophet Musa (pbuh).  They were authentic Semites for sure, and they were not the ones who dispersed. By the 8th and 9th centuries when Islam spread fully in the land of Palestine, the Semite Arab Jews in the land were just a minority as most of them had reverted to Islam.  Prior to that, during the spread of Christianity, lots had converted to Christianity.  There was never an Exodus of the minority Semite Jews from Palestine, and certainly not to Europe.  The Noble Quran does not mention anything about 'dispersal' of the Jews from the Holy Land.  Rather the Noble Quran mentions of the various nations of Jews that gradually emerged.  This is exactly what happened.  The Khazaria (Kayzars) Jews moving into Spain from southern Russian region until the end of Muslim reign in Spain and the takeover of Christian fanatics, Isabella and Ferdinand, and then some Jews from Spain moved to Italy and Turkey, but most of them moved to Western Europe viz. Germany, Austria, Poland, U.K. and France until WW2 and then the theft of Palestine.  So,  these European Jews gradually became different nations of Jews in Europe and the number of Jewish nations expanded when many immigrated to North America after WW2.   These are the different Jewish nations, which also includes the small number of Semite Arab Jews with whichever Jewish nation they are aligned presently, who will be gather together on the Day of Judgement confirmed by The Almighty.

I wanted to clarify this fact and this is the allusion in Verse 17:104.   But that commentary of Pickthall can be misleading, only portraying the dispersal of Semite Jews from Palestine which is the common dupe by mainstream historians and it is not true.



As we can see in the map, the region from where those Khazar guys spread to Europe and North America as different nations were Caucasians, some of Turkic descent which didn't change their Caucasian ethnicity.
