A mysterious car crash, true story of a Jin deluding humans

I was on a vacation visiting a small town in southern England during the early 1990s.  I stayed in this town for a month with my brother who lived there at the time.

The story I'm narrating was one that I read in a local newspaper during this visit to England.  The incident became the talk of the town.

Here's the story:
A young man in his 20s who lived with his parents was driving home one evening on a weekend after simple dinner at a friend's home.   When he approached a small intersection, he saw from a distance that the place was cordoned off with yellow tape.  Several police cars stood there, diverting the traffic in various directions as apparently the road ahead was shut.

Because of the jammed traffic, the man had to slow down his car while yet some distance away from the intersection, and drove at  snail's speed behind other cars.  He was puzzled as he didn't have a clue what might have happened. 

More than 10 minutes had passed and he was still stuck in the traffic jam.  At this point, he saw an elderly man walking along the side-walk close by.  He waved at the young man and at a few other drivers behind and ahead of him.  He then quickly stepped out of the side-walk and came up to the young man's car window that was half rolled down.  The young man in the car could now see him very clearly as he stood directly under the street light.  The old man was slim with a short neat beard and a healthy glow on his skin.  He told the young driver that the road was closed because a serious accident happened about two hours earlier in which a man and his wife were killed.  Then, they exchanged a few friendly words and the young man thanked him for the information.  The elderly guy turned around and walked away onto the side-walk, into the darkness of the night. 

The young man reached home later than expected.  He found his parents worried and waiting for him to arrive.  He told his parents what had happened and a little while later they all retired to their rooms.

The next morning, sure enough, the story of this fatal car crash was reported in the newspapers.  The young man's mother was the first to pick up the papers.  She passed it on to him at the breakfast table.  The headlines mentioned about the accident, and the story was in two short columns with a picture of a man and his wife in their early 70s who were killed in this car crash. 

When this young man saw the picture of the male accident victim, he almost fell off his chair.  He told his parents in utter disbelief that this accident victim was the same elderly man seen walking on the sidewalk the previous night after the accident and who spoke to him informing him of that fatal car crash.  He had no doubt in his mind that they were the same person.  The story ends here.

You might read or hear many such incidents in people's lives.  These are typical examples where the mischievous Jinn stroll around to fool humans at vulnerable moments into thinking the dead can return.  In reality, it's the Jinn who change appearances to misguide and confound humans.

Incredibly interesting .. an example of an incident which in the West they would call "ghost" but it was actually a jinn.  The resemblance could have been as it might be in the case of 2 humans, a coincidence, ha?  Or, if jinn are capable of changing their appearance (which I suppose they are), then it could have purposely made itself look like the accident victim to bewilder the onlooker.  After all, like humans, some jinn can also be trouble-makers or evil and thus play such tricks.
