While meeting with our brothers and sisters, expecting them to submit to Allah alone, we often unfortunately encounter a very different scenario.
We find 'devout' Muslims arguing about the Quran, but after a more detailed discussion it turns out that they have never read the Quran at all.  We find people who dress traditionally, many are also seniors and make regular dua's.  Yet, a discussion based purely on the Quran is like Greek to them.  Same story with many reverts.  Getting serious about Faith and implementing it in their daily lives actually takes them along diverse paths with little or no conformity with the Glorious Quran.

It's mind boggling that how can any man or woman claim to be a pious Muslim and yet not having read the Quran? .. Or, having read it without grasping a word, like speech being taught to a parrot?  How can anyone insist on being a devout Muslim when it is plain as bright daylight that all they are following is the 'sunnah'?  Not just that, but their lack of Quranic interest & knowledge has also caused the disaster of deriving Quranic interpretations from the contents of the "sunnah."  Thus, many of us seek with our eyes how a Muslim must live, that is the "sunnah" and yet we completely disregard the Word of Allah.
The acceptance of the law that the "sunnah" co-exists with the Noble Quran can either be described as an annexation or an intentional willingness to accept contradiction in Faith.  In both cases it reflects a severe lack of human intellect and will-power.
Though "sunnah" is a lifestyle, it evades the concept of submitting to Allah alone.  That's the sad paradox.   Sunnah basially tells us to make the same blunder which the Jews and Christians made aforetime.  Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
Our Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) was a very great and pious man.  His character was unique and exemplary.  The path of the Quran was the only one he followed meticulously.  He surely did NOT deserve a book of chinese whispers to be called "his sunnah" written down some 200 years after his death that constantly contradicts the Glorious Quran.

Subhan'Allah, a very articulate and comprehensive presentation of a common mistake that has completely ruined our beautiful Faith of Islam.  How hurt our dear Prophet (SAW) would be if he saw the ummah now  Sad   The tragedy caused by Hadith is too widespread.
