Worldly power & success are only tests from Allah (Surah Al-Imraan)

Brief reflections on the Noble Quran


"And let not those who disbelieve imagine that the rein We give them bodeth good unto their souls. We only give them rein that they may grow in sinfulness. And theirs will be a shameful doom."  (3:178)  Surah Al-Imraan


"And those who deny Our revelations - step by step We lead them on from whence they know not.  I give them rein (for) lo! My scheme is strong."  (7:182-183)  Surah Al-Araf


"Let not the vicissitude (of the success) of those who disbelieve, in the land, deceive thee (O Muhammad).  It is but a brief comfort. And afterward their habitation will be hell, an ill abode."   (3:196-197)  Al-Imraan


Acquiring worldly power or worldy success or materialistic fortune are simply tests from Allah for those humans who acquire them.  Such people are given loads of power, wealth or fame to test their reactions.  Generally, deviant or disbelieving people seem to be very 'fortunate' regarding earthly success, or that's what they think.    A disbeliever might misunderstand by thinking that he or she is lucky to have acquired power and good fortune.  With the help and support of their power and fame, their corruption, tyranny, violations, immoralites or inflicting of injustice keep increasing.  This is because Allah has abandoned their cases, allowing them to grow in their sins.  All such folks have failed their tests of good earthly fortunes by misusing them.  Subsequently, the intensity of their future punishment in Hellfire also keeps growing.  Their happiness through their good earthly fortune is limited only as long as they are in this world.  Beyond that, in the next permanent world, there's nothing for them save retribution.
