It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Even if the string of rape accusations against him are false, and reports do show much of those allegations are manipulated, Tariq Ramadan did have consensual sex with most of those women.  He already admitted as there were too many evidences leaving no room for denial.  He also knows that in countries like France and USA or any western nation, consensual sex with anyone is not considered immoral, only rape is.  But for Muslims, both are immoral in their own different ways.

That's a very relevant point to highlight.   Dr. Ramadan is hoping to be exonerated by confessing and clutching to the acceptability of western values on consensual sex outside marriage.  He admits he had consensual sex with many of those women.  His basic argument is, not rape, but consensual sex.  For a Muslim, rape is very, very, very bad;  and consensual sex out of wedlock is very, very bad.   Both are reprehensible on the basis of their varying unethical and unconscionable  rules and there's nothing too much to choose from.  The only difference is that in rape it's only the man who is blameworthy; in consensual sex both are responsible for misconduct.  He also admitted cheating on his wife on many occasions.  Absolutely disgraceful.  The personal side of his life is blatantly unclean and such folks must not be allowed to stain the reputation of Islam.  For that, our jurists and scholars need to step forward together and speak frankly to condemn his personal behavior.   They must insist that he apologizes to the Muslim world.

That's what he's counting on to prove his innocence.  But in the Sight of Allah, the guy would still carry enough guilt with the risk of ruining his soul in the Hereafter, unless he focuses on genuine reform of his personal character.

Salaams and many thanks my dear sisters and brother for discussing the issue of Tariq Ramadan who has suddenly been such an embarrassment and disappointment, after the disclosure of his secret personal life.

Since he is the grandson of Hasan al-Banna, founder of Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt,  many non-Muslims have dragged this episode into another sphere as well.   Islamophobes are besmirching the reputation of his grandfather, referring to Hassan al-Banna as a "radical."  Such tactics are detestable.  Many reporters today address MB as a radical organization and describe Hasan al-Banna as a radical too.   Indeed at present, to quite an extent, many members of MB (though not all) have been radicalized (whom the West supported) as we saw in Syria.   But that wasn't at all the teachings of Hassan al-Banna.  MB started getting radicalized in mid or late 1990s.  It was founded by al-Banna in 1928 as a humble welfare organization and Hassan Banna personally was undoubetedly a pious, simple and religious family man, educated in the University of Cairo.  His father, Rehman al-Banna, was a humble muezzin.  Hassan Banna was also very much into Sufiism which is opposite of any form of Sunni radicalism. He was also a prolific writer who penned more than 2,000 articles and several books.  He had a very short life though, only 43 years, assassinated along with his brother-in-law when the two of them were waiting at a roadside for a taxi after returning from a conference.  Reportedly, that debauch, King Farouk of Egypt, was behind it.   Linkage with Hassan Banna's family certainly does not make anyone a "radical."   When people don't know what they're talking, that's how deep they sink into ignorance by shit-talking the world confidently.

Tariq Ramadan should feel still more ashamed of himself that despite descending from a reputable and righteous family, he hasn't been able to cleanse his own soul and improve his personal lifestyle .

O really, this bugger is Hassan al-Banna's grandson?  I didn't know that.  Al-Banna certainly has a very self-respecting reputation, and he genuinely was pious.

Yes, the guy is the son of al-Banna's daughter, Wafa, married to a man named Saeed Ramadan.  That family consists of people with good characters and reputations from everything that I know.  Tariq Ramadan turned out to be the only freak because of his ignoble private life.

Very sad to read about the tragic end of Hassan al-Banna.  I didn't know this bit.  He was undoubtedly an intellectual person .... and must have been very humble to travel in a taxi while returning from a conference.  Nowadays politicians and opposition leaders have no less than three air-conditioned luxury cars per family.

May The Almighty grant him peace and comfort in the Hereafter.  Ameen.  I don't know how the human mind can orchestrate such murders of the innocents.   Shame on Farouk.

Indeed it was very lamentable.  From what we know, he and his brother-in-law went to a meet a senior minister of Farouk in some office building.  They waited for a long time but the minister didn't show up.  So they decided to leave, and were shot while waiting to flag a taxi.

Very informative discussion.  So, at the end of it, is it okay for us to continue reading and watching this man's public lectures on Islam, and simply ignore his conduct within his personal life?

Yes certainly.  As I mentioned earlier, I would still advise everyone to continue learning from his public lectures and talks as long as he doesn't say something that's obviously incorrect .... as long as he doesn't mingle the values of his secret personal life with his public lectures in an effort to portray them as acceptable.  And of course he will never have the courage to go that far.   Generally his understanding of Islam is good.   Some of his lectures may falter because after all he is a Hadithist too.  So, our perspective should be to go on following his public talks on Islam, but with discernment, as we would with anyone else's lectures.  Accept whatever he says is compatible with the Quran and dismiss what is incompatible with the Quran.  For the wrongdoings concerning his personal conduct, he will have to answer to Allah Almighty.

His lecture, as you and sister Zeynab defined in this thread, on the inheritance rights of women, is very logical.   He is trying to convey a very rational point which I'm sure in acceptable in the Sight of Allah.  The inheritance laws as Allah has stated in the Noble Quran are the standard laws for families with normal circumstances, where everyone performs their duties and knows their place .. that is, the adult male siblings are properly & fairly shouldering their responsibilities towards their female siblings, bearing the expenses of all their necessities of life including the expenses of their education and marriage without any of those unjustifiable domineering coercions.  But in cases where the male siblings are self-centered, callous and tyrannical, leading their own lives - not caring for their sisters and mothers but jumping in like vultures to grab the lion's share when it's time to distribute the 'candies,' - then the inheritance has to be done in accordance with Quranic ethical values to make sure that the girls of the family get enough to survive as well as live decently, otherwise they will likely not be supported fairly by their selfish and uncaring brothers and could face severe financial distress and misery  .. ....  particularly those female siblings who are permanently single or those who marry late or are divorced / widowed and have to return to their family for support.

Thanks again brother for this concise and very comprehensive explication.

If a person understands and interprets the Quran rationally, we must give ear to their interpretations.   If Mr. Ramadan took better care of his personal life, people would respect him much more.  But only he will have to answer to Allah Almighty for his personal deviations.
