As usual, the Hadith opinion on Jinn contains tons of exaggerations, NOTHING of which is warranted by the Noble Quran. 
 
Many Hadith followers seriously believe that Jinn can "possesses" humans by getting inside their bodies and the method of getting it out is by beating that person.  This is similar to the awful practices of exorcism.  It's utter nonsense and hugely sinful, no different from pagan customs in pre-Islamic Arabia.  Because of such ideas, Ahadith portray the acts of Jinn as evil, whereas the Quran conveys the message that Jinn can be good or bad just like humans.
 
Abdullah ibn Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said to his father: ‘Some people say that a Jinn cannot get into a human being’. His father replied: ‘O son! They do not tell the truth.   I'm sure there are many such narrations in Hadith, though I cannot recall them now. 
 
There is also another ridiculous concept among Hadith followers according to which a Jinn can get inside a human being and start beating him or her.  To support this false idea, some translators have mis-translated Verse 2:275 of Surah Al-Baqah to make it compatible with the claim that Jinn can get inside humans and start beating them.

"Those who swallow usury cannot rise up save as he ariseth whom the devil hath prostrated by (his) touch."  2:275.

The above is the correct translation of Verse 2:275.

But the incorrect translation writes:
 
Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Those who eat Ribâ (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitân (Satan) leading him to insanity. …} [2: 275].

Thus, in this wrong translation, the word "beaten" replaces the correct word "prostrated."

Furthermore, the notoriously wrong tafsir writer, Ibn Kathir, claims that epilepsy is caused when Shaitan gets inside a person and beats them.  Quoting Ibn Kathir "One cannot stand except in the state which we may see of an epileptic one who is beaten by Satan, i.e. to stand in a shocking manner." Also, Al-Qurtubi, who is another crazy tafsir writer, incorrectly supports Ibn Kathir and subsequently also supports the wrong translation of Verse 2:275 by saying "Such a verse refutes the opinion of those who deny epilepsy by Jinn."

According to the Hadith books, Jinn have three characteristics - some have wings and can fly, some look like snakes or are embodied in snakes, and some travel from place to place.   Apparently, such ideas have been grabbed by Hadith writers from pre-Islamic customs.  During the pre-Islamic era the pagans were often afraid of Jinn and some sought help from Jinn.  The notion of Satan and other jinn being represented by snakes has perhaps been taken from Christianity.  For this reason, the medieval artist, Rubens, drew the picture of Adam and Eve near the forbidden tree with a snake coiled in its branch.

Ibn Taymiyah (another hoax writer) said in his book al-Fatawa:  "Jinn may appear in the form of human beings and animals.

There is also a story that says Shaitan (who is also from the family of Jinn), came in the form of an old man during the battle of Badr.  He tried to uplift the morals of the kafir fighters but when he saw the army of the angels descending to assist the Muslims, he could not bear the sight of them and ran away.  The Noble Quran does say that Allah sent angels to help the believers during battle, but there is no mention of Satan coming in the form of an old man to help the kafirs.  To the contrary, the Quran makes it very clear that Satan and his tribe tempt people invisibly so that they can see humans but humans cannot see them.  And the devils only try to tempt those humans who have a weak or no faith and are misugided.  This is very much the message of the Noble Quran. 
 
"Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not."  7:27

Gosh!  I didn't know that these Hadithers had also mis-interpreted Verse 2:275.  This verse is so simple and everyone knows that the term "whom the devil hath prostrated by (his) touch." refers to the people who take usury and thus become friends of the devil or satan.   I am sure it's that idiot Ibn Kathir's hilariously stupid idea on epilepsy that's given the need to the Hadithists to misinterpret Verse 2:275 to make it compatible with Ibn Kathir's madness and thus misguide humanity.  May Allah drown them in the flames of Hellfire.
