Real jinn?

I am not sure if this is the right subforum to post this. I recently came across a video where a boy was reportedly disturbed by a jinn in Jamaica. A tv reporter shot that in his camera. What do you guys think?

In my opinion, this isn't a jin.  I think the boy is suffering from some mental health problems.   From the Quranic view point, there's no evidence that Jinn attack people in this manner.  Bad jinn might either tempt people like Satan, which means misguide them by creating desires of wrong things within them.  Or, jinn can also inhabit peoples' homes and that's when we talk of paranormal activities in a home.  Usually, when there's paranormal activities in a house or any other place, what we notice are strange or inexplicable happenings and occurences e.g. a light being turned on when no one switched it on, sound of footsteps when no one is around, household items missing from their places and being found in different locations where they were never kept etc.  But I don't know of jinn coming at people this way as seen happening with this boy in the video.  Such reactions are typical of mental health illnesses like manic depression, hysteria etc.  But only Allah knows best.

But sometimes when jinn inhabit homes, they might not be happy with the people living in that home.  In such cases the jinn at times do create problems for the inmates of the house by making their presence felt too frequently, and that makes the people anxious and tense and robs them of their peace of mind.

However, even I'm not too sure if what I see in this video is the affect of jinn.  This seems to be more of a psychiatric case.  But since these people don't seem to be very educated, they are misinterpreting it as the boy being possessed by some evil.  If it was really a jin, other people of the household would also experience its presence (at least to some extent), not just the boy .. though some nasty jinn can sometimes pick a certain person to harass.  However, I agree, jinn don't quite bully humans in this way.

The way the chair is pushed back, it seems the boy didnt do it himself. Look carefully at the boys movements while the chair moved back. Anyways, irrespective of what  happened here, my understanding is Jinns are capable of doing such things. I know a person, a consultant surgeon, whose house was haunted by Jinns. There they absolutely ransacked the apartment. Immediately after tidying things up, infront of everyones very eyes everything messed up again. I remember the computer monitor falling from the table all by itself. Nobody was hurt though. How he got rid of it... thats a long story.

Salaam.  I agree with you br. Muhammad.  Jinn are capable of such devastation, but what we mean is that misinterpretations and rumors are also often rife.   Of course there's always a possibility that this video is actually showing the action of the jinn.  No one can refute that and only Allah would know the truth. 

What you describe happened with your friend sounds interesting.  If you don't mind, it would be nice if you shared it in our board of personal experiences of members or relatives/friends.

One of my cousins also went through a similar shattering experience whose house was definitely visited by jinn .. rather they assume that jinn lived in that area before their home was constructed on that land.  Their home was the  first house to be made on that piece of land they purchased in a suburban area, spent a huge chunk of money is having a beautiful house built, only to sell it at a throw-away price 3 years later.  It just became impossible to continue living there.  Here's the story.

Regular recitations of Quranic Ayats are the only way to repulse bad jinn that I know of. 

This story is interesting.  So what happened and how did that man handle the jinn in his apartment?
