Here is a nice illustration (painting) of Prophet Musa supervising his people crossing the Red Sea after it parted, each side being as vast as a mountain as confirmed in the Noble Quran.  An amazing miracle from Allah.   

"Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast."  (26:63)  Surah Ash-Shu'ara



This is just a painting presuming that the event looked somewhat like this.  And only Allah knows best how it exactly looked.
