Something to remember.

Organic foods are referred to the produce that are grown naturally with zero or minimal chemicals during growth and processing.  Concerning animals, organic foods also signify that animals used for food were treated humanely.

In the modern world tampering with nature has gotten widespread.  It's what they call "conventional food" that's swept the shelves of all food stores.  Animals are fed on growth hormones so they grow big to yield maximum meat lined with plenty of fat.  Fruits and vegetables are treated with chemicals, synthetic fertilizers and genetic modification to enhance their size and color to look appetizing, even though it deadens the taste and flavor.  And of course, modern farming means using lots of pesticides in agricultural fields.

Until a few years ago, diet experts were quite candid about organic food not being too healthy.  But lately, though they are still aware that it isn't as healthy as we think, these experts are trying to downplay the downside of conventional foods.   The other day I came across a statement that read "Organic foods are not necessarily more nutritious than conventional foods, but they typically are free of the pesticides that can be present in non-organic varieties .. If you are trying to avoid pesticides, chemicals, growth hormones and other contaminants, organic is the healthier choice. "  Hah!  what a clever way of playing with words.

Don't get fooled folks.  Whenever possible, try to opt for organic foods.   That's the healthy choice.   But I realize it's hard to get organic eatables.  Not all stores carry them, and those that do, have them in limited supply that often get sold too fast.   And of course, the prices of organic fruits, veggies and meat are higher.

Despite its scarcity and higher prices, if you are still interested in organic foods, you are doing a great favor to your health.  In that case, also remember not to get duped by food labels.  Note that foods labeled "natural" and/or "real" do not mean organic.  The label must specifically use the term "organic."   If the labels says "organic," it generally means approximately 95% of that food is organic or natural.  If it says "100% organic," then that means the product is totally natural.

Some very essential points to remember, thanks.  While my family isn't too particular, I'm all and all for organic foods.  One thing the experts never mention is if according to their claims conventional food is no worse than organic, then why produce conventional food at all?  Obviously the use of chemicals & synthetic fertilizers etc. bring about some monetary benefits rather than health benefits.
