                   Such an event is not new to Muslims. They have been always haunted by Sui generis explained Jinn. Dichotomy exists pertaining to this term within the rational and the rest.  I am gratified to bring to your notice the definition of the term
Jinn - (Jeem-Noon-Noon)
janna means hidden. it means not only hidden from the eyes but also from senses and Jinnatun means madness (23/25). 

The Qur an has referred to, and addressed Jinn and Ins together in many verses. Ins refers to tribes that used to settle down in one place, and Jinn means inhabitants of a subterranean world, nomadic tribes who kept on wandering in the desert.  The Qur an pointedly addressed both of these groups such as in verse (6/131):  Oh Ye, assembly of Jinn and Ins, don t you know that a Rasool came to you from amongst you. There is no evidence in the Qur an to show that at any time a Jinn was also a Rasool; on the contrary, it is further clarified in verse (7/35) where it is made clear that Jinn belong to Bani-Adam.

Walaikum As-Salaam.  According to those well-versed in old Arabic, the term jinn has a double meaning .. elemental spirits as well as clever foreigners of the human race.  Foreigner (or foreigners) could be someone from a different tribe or race living in a different town or oasis or country.  The correct reference has to be grasped and understood from the substance of the specific verse being read. However, majority of the references to jinn in the Quran indicate elemental spirits.

You're right.  The Quran does not say of any messenger who was a jinn, but that shouldn't be taken to presume that jinn cannot acquire guidance from the Divine Message sent to human messengers.  For reference, kindly read Verses 72:1-12 Surah Al-Jinn.  And only Allah knows best.

Humans and jinn are distinctly categorized as two different species in the Quran, there can be no doubts on that - the former created of earth and the latter of smokeless fire.  Reference V.55:14-15  "He created man of clay like the potter's, And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire."  (55:14-15)  Ar-Rehman.  Verses 26 & 27 of Surah Al-Hijr also convey the same information, quote:  "Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire."  (15:26-27).    This confirms that humans and jinn are different creations of Allah.

The explanation given by Free Minds on the expression "smokeless fire" is extraterrestrial plasma/energy beings.  Quoting Free Minds on this issue "Plasma is energy matter that makes-up 99% of the known universe. The description the Quran gives of Jinn being made from a 'smokeless fire' fits perfectly with this energy matter which is present but is not always possible to view with the naked eye."  However, the truth of this opinion is known to Allah alone.  It's impossible for any of us to confirm it.  So I leave it there and won't go any further.

Also refer to the following verses which clearly allude that humans and jinn are two different sets of beings:

"O company of jinn and men, if ye have power to penetrate (all) regions of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate (them)! Ye will never penetrate them save with (Our) sanction."  (55:33).

"I did not create the Jinn and the humans except to serve Me." (51:56)


Verse 7:35 which you referred to, I quote as follows. It's about the descendents of Adam, not the jinn.    "O Children of Adam! When messengers of your own come unto you who narrate unto you My revelations, then whosoever refraineth from evil and amendeth - there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve."  (7:35) Al-Araf.   Since Allah Almighty has already stated that humans and jinn belong to different species, the expression "O Children of Adam .." in V.7:35 must be presumed as being addressed to humans only.

Please know, differing individual opinions on various Quranic information cannot be generalized.  Therefore no one is entitled to authoritatively consider their view to be the final one.  The final authority on every verse belongs only to Allah.  We can only confirm what the Quran confirms.  The rest remain everyone's personal opinion which can only be clarified by Allah on the Day of Judgment.
