One Question arises from the account of Imam Tirmidhi, that's sad because of ahadith's our Religion has become a game in the hand's of our ulma's, aalims and Imam's , the real purpose of the sacrifice is to commemorate the unflinching loyalty of ibrahim( pbuh) to Allah and It cannot be substituted by any form of spendings,But unfortunately our imams are totally blank and fooling ummah on the name of sunnah .After zuhar prayers one of our sister have made mistake to asked imam !if we do not Sacrifice animal would it be sin ? did our prophet Muhammad (pbuh) slaughter animals every year ?( Sister belongs to welloff family but she don't want to slaughter animal separately this year ). Imam got almost angry and said sacrifice is the way of the muslims yes our Prophet (pbuh) offered sacrifices each year as did his companions (pbuh) and it is a confirmed Sunnah, so it is not permissible to omit it if one can offered it, so don't think it is obligatory or not . He Quoted the following hadith regarding sister's question !!
It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stayed in Madeenah for ten years, offering sacrifice (every year on Eid).” Narrated by Ahmad, 4935; al-Tirmidhi, 1507; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Mishkaat al-Masaabeeh, 1475. http://sunnah.com/tirmidhi/19 Narrated Ibn 'Umar :
"The Messenger of Allah () stayed in Al-Madinah for ten years performing the Udhiyah.

(The word udhiyah means an animal of the ‘an’aam class (i.e., camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha because of the Eid and as an act of worship. )
BUT Ibrahamic sacrifice had nothing to do with the physical act of blood-letting.sacrifice of prophet ibrahim(pbuh) was actually about his willingness to let go of the most important thing in his life, in order to fulfill, what he perceived to be, the will of the Divine Creator ,i wonder which kind of lesson are we learning from the sacrifice of ibrahim(pbuh) ??
Their flesh and their food reach not Allah, but the devotion from you reacheth Him. Thus have We made them subject unto you that ye may magnify Allah that He hath guided you. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the good.
22:37we should ask ourselves if we are giving up something of intense value when we reduce the sacrifice to slaughtering animal ? Are we really making the same type of emotional and mental sacrifice that Ibrahim(pbuh) made? If not, then what is the purpose of continuing this tradition in this way aren't we just killing the innocent animals brutally to enjoying BBQ ....??
which sunnah ARE WE following ?
