It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Assalam Alaikum
When I read this Ayah 29 of surah Al-Fath "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves".and then reflect about what happened between the Mother of believers Aisha (RA) and the commander of believers Ali (RA) at the battle of Jamal. How do you correlate Merciful among themselves with the Battle of Jamal. How could this have happened between the people who were with the holy prophet(SAW) because Quraan states "Merciful among themselves".Kindly enlighten me about it.
Thanks and Allah bless

Walaikum Salam brother Abbottonian.  Nice to see you again .. and with a very good question.

I have read and recalled this verse several times.  It expresses a very comforting spirit of love and unity among the Ummah.  The verse expresses the vital concept that compassion must 'begin at home,' otherwise the compassion of those Muslims who are unable to dispense kindness to their own brethren might not be genuine.   "hard against the disbelievers" apparently refers to those disbelievers who are hostile and indulging in aggression.

The battle of Jamal (camel) being a sensitive issue for Muslims of both sects, its authentic details are difficult to find any longer because of the abundance of story-telling from both sides.  But the broad outline seems to be that after the assassination of the third righteous caliph, Usman bin Affan, the people, including Aisha, were very eager that the killers be apprehended and punished at the earliest.   As we know, Usman was succeeded by Ali.  I'm sure it must have also been important for Ali to catch and punish the ones who assassinated Usman. But probably the task wasn't easy as it's never simple to find evidences and catch criminals, coupled with Ali's growing political problems, it's possible that the trail of apprehending Usman's assassins went cold.  This  is supposed to have angered Aisha very much.  According to some historians (don't know how far it's true), Aisha felt Ali was being too slack on the issue.  Her anger apparently went to the extent of declaring war against him.

If this is really the authentic outline of the story, then yes, I would say the Quranic commandment of V.48:29 was violated .... at least to some extent.  Like I said, it's hard to be sure of the exact circumstances which led to the declaration of this war from Aisha's side.  However, it seems quite obvious that the war was started by her and not Ali.  Unless the the episode involves more political details we don't know about, personally I don't think this was a good enough reason for Aisha to declare war against the caliph.  It only deepened the divide among the Muslims at a time when divisions had already begun taking place.  However, all great personalities of our history were also, after all, human beings.  Sometimes they too made mistakes and misjudgments.  If that was so in this case from whoever's side, may Allah forgive them.

And Allah knows best.

Sister Heba has put up some very thoughtful points.  However, it also strikes me that since the entire history of Islam has been so enormously tampered by the clerics, recreating or removing entire episodes, whether or not the battle of camel actually took place is the first question to begin with.   With the kind of gossip-mongering and hostilities that have been going on, it's very likely that either the Shiias might have made up this story to make Aisha look belligerent and aggressive, OR, it's just as possible that the Sunni planned this story to make it appear that Imam Ali did nothing to punish the murderers of Usman to the extent that the mother of believers was compelled to take up arms against him.   And each time a tale is constructed by either Shiia or Sunni, it always proceeds and continues to get woven further by both parties in their own different ways.
