Answering-Islam has as usual thoughtlessly pounced on Surah Al-Qamar with the idea of coming up with a swashbuckling denunciation whereas actually AI's own so-called criticism is fraught with holes.

The following is their criticism of Surah Al Qamar Verse 54:1.

Quoting Answering-Islam from their collection of hogwash at WikiIslam:

The Qur'an and Hadith claim that the moon was miraculously split into two pieces and then, presumably, put back together again. There is absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever that the moon has ever been split into two. Since the moon is visible to half the planet at any given time, we should expect to see numerous accounts from different parts of the world attesting to this event if it actually happened. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Persians, Chinese and Indians had avid astronomers who should have seen this event and recorded it in their histories. The absence of historical record from other civilizations, contemporary to Muhammad, is a strong indication that this event never happened.

The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder.  Qur'an 54:1-3

Narrated Anas: "That the Meccan people requested Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon." (Sahih Bukhari)  4:45:831

Unquoting the mega-morons:

(1)  Answering-Islam quotes Verse 54:1 and writes "54:1-3."

(2)  As you can see above, Answering-Islam has not even read Verse 54:1 properly,  doesn't know the importance of reading the Quran independent of Hadith, and thinks there's nothing wrong with interpreting the Quran based on the false stories of the man-written Ahadith.

(3) Answering-Islam has no idea whatsoever of the fact that Verse 54:1 and its following seven verses, that is, Verses 54:1-8 refer to the Day of Judgement and the destruction caused on that Day, NOT to any physical splitting or breaking of the moon.

(4) Although the moon being rent asunder as stated in Verse 54:1 does NOT refer to any physical celestial incident during the Prophet's (pbuh) time, astronomers have confirmed deep cracks and fissures in our satellite, the moon, which according to them does indicate the possibility of some kind of damage/occurrence in the past.

(5) Answering-Islam's further yap-yap claiming "Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Persians, Chinese and Indians had avid astronomers ...."  based on the benighted condition of their minds and misunderstanding of the Quran that the moon really broke like a vase in the sky is much too substandard a comment and not worth responding simply because that is NOT what the Quran refers to.

Splitting of the moon  (Surah Al-Qamar)

Answering-Islam needs to shed of at least some bit of its stifling ignorance to qualify for a civilized discourse.  Do NOT mix the Noble Quran with the forged Hadith, you mega morons.
