The world seems to be turning looney, into a hotbed of the sort of illiteracy that thrives largely in the Islamophobic community in the name of “education.”

It involves the distortion of truth by misinterpreting, foolishly misunderstanding or intentionally attacking linguistic beauty by misconstruing its articulation and message.  This ugly game has become the order of the day in the sphere of ‘intellectuals’ of various circles.

Check the source link of my writing on the latest attack on the English proverb “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”  So, how would you interpret it?  That eating an apple everyday will make you immortal?  If you eat an apple a day you’ll never ever get sick all your life?  That if you munch one apple every day, you’ll never need to go through the ordeal of any annual physical?

Come on folks!  I don’t think even one of you would fall for such childish hyperbole.  Presumably this proverb originated in Britain over two centuries ago and is still popular. It isn’t supposed to be taken literally that all you need to do is eat an apple everyday and you’ll be in fine fettle and fit as a fiddle forever, regardless of all other aspects of your lifestyle including your eating habits.  Don’t be a bunch of incredible pea-brains to grossly misunderstand a simple phrase and consequently undermine an ornate style for conveying an elementary yet truthful message that apple is simply a good fruit.

Nonetheless, lately a flawed piece in the mainstream online media, overlooking the metaphoric importance of this proverb, is ranting and ranting with one “scientific” repudiation after another that "an apple a day" does not help you avoid visiting your doctor.  If this is what it means being a scientist – as literal minded as that – may God Almighty help science.  Or is this an attitude problem that’s meant to express resentment to anything literary?  Is hatred of linguistic style the newest discovery of science?  I bet not.  Science is sensible but many who proclaim to be its proponents aren’t.

Taking a peek at the cranky tantrums that have chased, hounded and torn into shreds this cute proverb “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” with relentless analysis,  tersely grouping those who eat apples and those who don't.  “An apple a day doesn't necessarily keep the doctor away. That's according to proverb-busting research that found daily apple eaters had just as many doctor visits as those who ate fewer or no apples.”  Check the source link for the frantic professionals’ crusade against apples and have your laugh. It then says, “the findings don’t mean apples aren’t good for you but they do underscore that it takes more than just one kind of food to make a healthy diet and avoid illness.”  O really?  As if no one ever knew that, ha?

Let’s quickly take a bird’s eye view of the down-to-earth facts on apples which is exactly what the proverb hints upon.  Apples are high in soluble fibers.  They carry Vitamins A and C.  Apples are rich in iron.  Apples are easily available as they aren’t as seasonal as most other fruits.  Apples are found in stores almost throughout the year.  You can keep them in your fridge for a long time; they don’t taste stale for days.  Apples do not contain sugar or glucose.  They contain malic acid on account of which apples aren’t injurious for the teeth.  Best of all, apples are one of the very few fruits even diabetics are allowed to eat – one a day.

The queer mentality of literal interpretations of literary styles is sending a wrong message to commoners, often creating a behavioral problem as well.  It’s teaching them to misconstrue obvious expressions, to reject embellished articulations of the literary genre and to antagonize with obdurate arguments and a nagging approach.   It’s one of the reasons why Islamophobic groups like Answering-Islam etc.  are picking on accurate Verses of the Noble Quran and distorting them with highly incorrect literal portayals.

The article baselessly hounding a nice proverb.

Adorable piece and very, very useful as it represents the exact mentality of AI thugs we're dealing with at the other board.  Each time we respond to one of those illogical and bloody-minded AI's so-called criticisms, a link to this post is a must to let everyone know the strategy of AI's thuggery and similar application of this mischief in certain other fields by empty headed nut bars claiming to be "experts."  Obviously there are segments of "professionals" nowadays who have made enough money promoting their illusions and now they have plenty of idle time at hand to dissect and argue uselessly over proverbs by completely overlooking their purpose.

I disagree with metaphors only if they are rude toward Quanic principles and contents.  For example, the hadith on Paradise under feet of mother.  Hadith fans vehemently justify it saying it's metaphorical.  Indeed it is but its discrepancy is not its metaphorical application, rather the utter rudeness contained in that metaphor.

The damn doctor, medic or scientist .... whoever wrote the article in that link at Yahoo surely has nothing to do from morning to evening.

Your rejoinder is wonderfully penned sister Ruhi, backed up with a couple of spot on points by sister Heba.

Thank you.
