....They wasted no time turning the Mosque of Cordoba into a cathedral and no one in the Western world batted an eyelid.  But when AyaSofia Mosque was reopened as a Masjid for regular Islamic prayers in 2018 in Istanbul, the noise from the non-Muslim world was deafening.

Very correctly perceived Sister Heba.   And as Sister Zeynab said, it's not only the Cordoba Mosque but many more across the former Al-Andalusia that have been turned into Catholic churches, stolen by Spanish Roman Catholic bishops.   The history of the Cordoba Mosque is stolen secretly.  In the spring of 2015 the term "Cordoba Mosque" suddenly disappeared from the new history books, from the maps and from Google.  Spain has millions of tourists every year namely in summer visiting the history sites of Islamic Spain.  When the prospective tourists failed to find the name "Cordoba Mosque" in search engines including Google, this disappearance of one of the world's most renowned historical attractions raised a hue and cry demanding it be restored with online petitions having thousands of signatures.  Because of this outcry, the thieves got a bit panicky.  The Catholic church of Spain and the Vatican denied any involvements but one can take it for granted that their denial was a LIE, 100% !!    The crafty Google hurriedly restored the search but differently, calling the Cordoba Mosque  “Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba” which the Catholic church of Spain has officially implemented since 1980 or 1981.  What it wanted to do in 2015 was to remove the word "Mosque" and call it "Cathedral of Cordoba."  The attempt failed.  Yet that doesn't resolve the issue.  Officially calling it "Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba" since the past 40 years is just as false.  The Great Mosque of Cordoba was built purely as a Mosque, NOT a Cathedral.

I will have to be thoroughly honest here.  If churches, cathedrals and synagogues are turned into Mosques, that's an honor for those churches, cathedrals and synagogues.  The reason being, Mosques are Monotheistic places of worship.  Originally churches and synagogues were also intended to be purely Monotheistic but the ideology of Monotheism was corrupted by the deviation of Christians and Jews of later times.  Therefore, while turning a church or synagogue into a Mosque is progressive, turning a Mosque into a church or synagogue is retrogressive.  It's that simple.   Yet, the fact is, while very few churches and synagogues have been turned into Mosques, unfortunately plenty of Mosques in non-Muslim countries have been turned into other places of worship by fanatic non-Muslim governments as the world watches silently.

Wa'salam.   Indeed lovely!  Subhan'Allah.   And in Turkish jam'aah, they don't mind putting women in front rows of the congregations as we see here, unlike in various other Muslim communities.

I absolutely  lve this pic of 1st Shawal, 1443 outside Aya Sofya Mosque !!

I too noticed that, women are right in front.  The Wahabi influenced shaykhs and imams claim women shouldn't be in front cause when they go down for sajoud, some bad guys in their rear may gape at their backs.  I say, a man who is capable of stooping that low should be sent behind the bars for life for his appalling depravity.
