I am looking for some scholarly Quran analysis of verse 23:5-6.  Is there a link on this website.

"who guard their chastity"  (23:5)
"except with their spouses or their slaves ––with these they
are not to blame"  (23:6)

Walaykum Salam.  No brother, we don't have this as a separate topic cause it's self-explanatory.  The Verses refer to the prohibition of extra-marital relationships. Physical intimacy is allowed only with spouses. During that period when the Quran was in the process of being revealed and abolition of slavery hadn't yet fully taken effect, slaves under the care of their masters had similar rights as spouses concerning physical relations.  Of course it had to be with the consent of the slaves.  If they desired to preserve their chastity, then the master wasn't entitled to force them (Ref.V.24:33). If you recall, I had explained to you a similar aspect when you asked about Verse 4:3 at the Blog and I had given you the link on how slavery was gradually abolished in the Light of the Quran.  That provides very useful background information, in case one wonders why over V.23:6.

"Also is there a way to ask a question without having to create a new topic???"

I'm afraid not Sad   In forums everything is topic-wise.  Whatever question you ask will be related to some topic; so just put it under the respective board or sub-board.  We did have a Q&A category at our blog but no more.  Lately the blog is primarily for political events researched from alternative sources which the mainstream channels won't mention.  And all Quranic / Islamic topics are here at MV forum.

Btw ..  Since this is about particular Verses, it belongs to Tafsir/Commentary on Specific Quranic Verses sub-board.  InshAllah, Sister Zeynab will move it there.
