It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

 BismEm

Believers are not permitted to eat pork. Even concerning animals that are allowed to be consumed as food, such as cattle, sheep, camel and poultry, there is a rule to be followed - mentioning the name of Allah while slaughtering a beast for food.

During the days of polytheism in the Arabian peninsula, the idolaters sacrificed animals in the names of other deities which they worshipped instead of Almighty Allah or which they associated with Allah. Such food is not permissible. Sacrifice must be made only in the name of Allah, the One and Only. Therefore, as a confirmation of discontinuing this old polytheistic tradition, it is incumbent to mention the name of Allah Almighty (alone) before slaughtering an animal for food.

It's also necessary to remember that animals are living beings and they too have souls like humans. At the same time, Allah has made animals subservient to humans. Thus, when an animal is being slaughtered for food, it is dying to serve us. As a gesture of respect toward the soul of the dying animal, it is mandatory to mention the name of Allah.

"And for every nation have We appointed a ritual, that they may mention the name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He hath given them for food; and your God is One God, therefor surrender unto Him. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the humble," (22:34) Al-Hajj

I quote the reflections of Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall on the above verse.

Quote:
In order that they may realize the awfulness of taking life and the solemn nature of the trust which Allah has imposed on them in the permission to eat animal food. Thus, must mention the name of Allah before slaughtering.
Unquote:

The following Verse from Surah Al-Anum is further evidence to respect the rights of animals.

"There is not an animal in the earth, nor a flying creature flying on two wings, but they are peoples like unto you. We have neglected nothing in the Book (of Our decrees). Then unto their Lord they will be gathered." 6:38

It is for this reason that we are not allowed to eat the meat of animals that have been killed by beating, strangulating, goring by horns or falling from heights. Only those are Halal that are slaughtered in the name of Allah by the 'death stroke,' that is, as quickly and painlessly as possible. Please check the following verse.

"Forbidden unto you (for food) are carrion and blood and swineflesh, and that which has been dedicated unto any other than Allah, and the strangled, and the dead through beating, and the dead through falling from a height, and that which has been killed by (the goring of) horns, and the devoured of wild beasts, saving that which you make lawful (by the deathstroke), and that which has been immolated unto idols. And (forbidden is it) that you swear by the divining arrows. This is an abomination." 5:3

'divining arrows' (azlam which is plural of zalam), were thin wooden arrows having no heads. In the pre-Islamic period the idolaters would write on these arrows, what they considered permissible or otherwise, and then used the divination method associated with it to decide their affairs. 'divination' refers to the act of foretelling future events by means of augury - a very common practice among all pagans. Allah Almighty prohibits engaging in such an activity. It is a transgression.

From verse 22:34 it is also clear that prior to revealing the Glorious Quran, Allah had similarly commanded the Jews and Christians to mention His name over animals being slaughtered for eating. Though many of the Jews do adhere to kosher which is somewhat similar to Halal for Muslims, the Christians do not follow any dietary regulations based on Faith.

Besides, the sacrifice of animlas for food for the poor which is one of the ceremonies of Hajj "is not a propitiary sacrifice, but it is in commemoration fo the sacrifice of Abraham which marked the end of human sacrifices for the Sematic race, and which made it clear that the only sacrifice which Allah requires of man is the Surrender of his will and purpose i.e.  Al-Islam" as explained by Pickthall.

"And for every nation have We appointed a ritual, that they may mention the name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He hath given them for food; and your God is One God, therefor surrender unto Him. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the humble, (Al-Hajj - 22:34)

Their flesh and their food reach not Allah, but the devotion from you reacheth Him. Thus have We made them subject unto you that ye may magnify Allah that He hath guided you. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the good." (Al-Hajj - 22:37)

Salams everyone.  Coming to this post after long, long time ... though I had read it earlier more than once for useful information.  Thanks Sis.

I wanted to bring up a point in this regard.  I was reading Surah An-Nahl today and Verses 16:5-8 rung a bell.  Let me quote:

"And the cattle hath He created, whence ye have warm clothing and uses, and whereof ye eat;" 16:5
"And wherein is beauty for you, when ye bring them home, and when ye take them out to pasture."  16:6
"And they bear your loads for you unto a land ye could not reach save with great trouble to yourselves. Lo! your Lord is Full of Pity, Merciful."  16:7
"And horses and mules and donkeys (has He created) that you may ride them, and for ornament.  He creates for you many other things, of which you have no knowledge at all."   16:8

In the above Verses, Allah Almighty mentions the benefits of cattle, horses, mules and donkeys.  Now please note:  Reference to consumption for food is mentioned only concerning cattle.  So, can we say that Verses 16:5-8 are indicative that while cattle are halal as food, not horses, mules and donkeys?

Walaykum Salam.   That's a very valid point Sister Ruhi.  Alhumdulilah, wise of you to perceive it.  These Verses are a clear comparison between the uses of different animals for humankind.

Uses of cattle mentioned are:
- Warm clothing (that is, coverings for the body made from animal skin and fur).
- Bearing loads (that is, carrying peoples' belongings during travel).- Their beauty when taken to the fields for grazing.
- "and whereof you eat;"  (refers to animal food)

Uses of horses, mules and donkeys:
- For riding (that is, traveling or moving faster from place to place)
- "and for ornament"  (that is, adding elegance and comfort in our lives)

As we can discern, Allah has mentioned all the basic benefits we get from these two different sets of animals.  The benefit of acquiring food is from cattle (which include cows, bulls, oxen, or calves).

Therefore I think yes, it is indicative that Verses 16:5-8 are indicative that cattle are halal as food, not horses, mules and donkeys.

I read an article that in Germany they eat donkey meat.   Someone with free-minder kinda outlook mentioned in some online discussion I was reading that donkey meat is halal as there's no prohibition mentioned in the Quran.  But I had sensed that person was wrong, and on reading these Verses it's quite obvious he was carrying an incorrect notion presuming donkey meat to be halal for food.

Actually they eat horse and donkey meat not only in Germany but several other European countries too.  In slightly olden times consumption of horse meat was common in UK.  Nowadays horse and donkey meat are also eaten in Australia, Canada, USA, South-east Asia, Russia, China and Mongolia.   Sounds terrible, but it's true.
