Quran must be accepted in its entirety, not selectively (Al-Hijr)

"And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner,
Such as We send down for those who make division,
Those who break the Qur'an into parts.
Them, by your Rab, We shall question, every one,
Of what they used to do." (15:89-93).   Translated by Pickthall.

"And say "Indeed (I) am a warner clear."  As we sent down on those who divided.  Those who have made the Quran (in) parts.  So by your Rab, surely We will question them all About what they used (to) do."  (15:89-93).   Word by word translation from Corpus Quran.

Allah Almighty tells the Prophet (pbuh) to tell the disbelievers that he (the Prophet) is a plain warner.  And the warning is the same as sent earlier to the schismatics, which refers to the Jews and probably Christians too who altered their Divine Scriptures and created divisions (sects) within Faith.  The Quranic line "Those who break the Quran into parts" denotes the People of the Book implementing their Divine Scripture selectively and also replacing the original with their own man-written contents (please note, the literal meaning of the word 'Quran' is lecture).  Allah is very well Aware of what they are doing, He is watching them and will question them for this enormous transgression on the Day of Judgment.

Abu Ala Maududi's explanation is also worth quoting.

The schismatics were the Jews for they had split their religion into many parts and caused divisions in it. They believed in certain parts and rejected the other parts, and detracted some things from it and added others to it. Thus they had been divided into many sectarian groups, which were opposed to one another.

"They have cut their Qur'an (Torah) into pieces":  "They believe in certain parts of it and reject other parts. "   The same thing has been stated in II: 85 like this: ".... Do you then believe in one part of the Scriptures and disbelieve in the other parts .... "   " .... this warning is like the warning We sent to the schismatics (Jews)."   This is meant to warn the disbelievers that they should learn a lesson from the plight of the Jews who neglected the warning that was given to them by God, and persisted in their wrong ways, .....

As for the Final Message - the Noble Quran - revealed to the Final Messenger, none can change it as Allah has Himself taken the responsibility of protecting it.  But Muslims must take the above Verses from Surah Al-Hijr as a warning that they must follow the Quran in its entirety not selectively.  Many Muslims have the atrocious habit of focusing only on those instructions of the Quran which suits their personal purposes and those commandments they personally find inconvenient, are ignored.  They try to justify what's prohibited in the Quran either through the man-written forged Hadiths or via obnoxious fatwas or demented lectures by sneaky "scholars."  This stance is absolutely reprehensible.  The Almighty is Watching indeed.

Love this reminder and the commentary (tafsir) is great.  Many thanks brother. The Jews and Christians ruined their Quran (Lecture) with selective application and altering the originals.  The Final Quran - The Glorious Quran - won't change. So its followers began writing Hadith, fatwas and Youtube dramas to violate the Laws of Allah.  They will come to know, InshAllah.

Wonderful piece brother, and very important indeed.  Just recently we mistakenly allowed a selective follower of the Quran into our forum who dismissed the prime Quranic concept of submission and claimed "peace" as the essence of the Quran.  This sort of selective attitude is getting quite common and fact-finders and new learners must really be careful of such misleaders.
