 BismEm

"O ye assembly of the jinn and humankind! Came there not unto you messengers of your own who recounted unto you My tokens and warned you of the meeting of this your Day?" (6:130) Al-Anam.

As-Salam Alaykum dear everyone.  When Allah Almighty addresses this Verse to humans as well as jinn and mentions "messengers of your own" .... does this mean messengers were sent by The Almighty to the jinn separately who belonged to the species of the jinn?

Your opinion would be very helpful.

Walaykum Salam Sister Ruhi.

There is no Quranic proof that Allah raised from among the jinn their own Prophets nor that Allah sent any Divine Revelations separately to the jinn.  But what is confirmed by Quranic verses is that the Messengers to the jinn were from among humans (reference Surah Al-Jinn Verses 1 & 2, Surah Al-Ahqaf Verses 29 to 32).   Referring to Verse 130 of Surah Al-An`am: “Oh you assembly of the jinn and humankind! Came there not unto you Messengers of your own…”

Reading the above Verse, one may wonder if prophets came among the community of jinn as well, that is, prophets who were jinn not humans.  But I repeat, there is absolutely no Quranic evidence that Allah Almighty sent any prophets to the community of jinn who were jinn themselves.  In the Arabic language, particularly Quranic Arabic in accordance with Arabic grammar,  whenever the Quran addresses humans along with any other species, it refers to humans.  When the Quran addresses all humanity, the Quranic grammar uses the masculine gender.  But all such Verses are addressed to both men as well as women.  According to similar use of Arabic grammar, in Verse 6:130, jinn are included with humankind but the messengers sent by Allah Almighty are humans (men) only.

Thus, from everything we know based on the Noble Quran, no messengers of the jinn species came to the jinn nor did any jinn receive Revelations from Allah.   Rather, the jinn listened to the Quran recited by the human Messenger sent by Allah, and subsequently they conveyed the Divine Message to other jinn of their community.  This is precisely what we understand from the Noble Quran.   And only Allah knows best.

"Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an,  (72:1) Al-Jinn.

Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord."  (72:2)  Al-Jinn.

"And when We inclined toward thee (Muhammad) certain of the jinn, who wished to hear the Qur'an and, when they were in its presence, said: Give ear! and, when it was finished, turned back to their people, warning.   (46:29) Al-Ahqaf.

"They said: O our people! Lo! we have heard a scripture which hath been revealed after Moses, confirming that which was before it, guiding unto the truth and a right road.  (46:30 Al-Ahqaf.

"O our people! respond to Allah's summoner and believe in Him. He will forgive you some of your sins and guard you from a painful doom.  (46:32)  Al-Ahqaf.

"And whoso respondeth not to Allah's summoner he can nowise escape in the earth, and he hath no protecting friends instead of Him. Such are in error manifest."  (46:32)  Al-Ahqaf.

Plenty of thanks for the help dear brother.  I get it now thoroughly.

Btw, according to Hadithers, even the jinn who met the Prophet (pbuh) should be called sahabas.  Ibn Hajar says that those jinn who's names are known must be recognized as sahabas.  Although the Noble Quran confirms that some segments of the jinn met the Prophet (pbuh) and heard the recitation of the Final Message, the Quran does not mention the names of any jinn nor does it say anything about recognizing them as sahabas.

Exactly.  The Quran does not say anything of that sort.   This entire 'sahaba' culture is entirely from hadith.

That's right brother ts, there's no Quranic information to confirm that prophets came specifically to the jinn.  The jinn take guidance from the Divine Message sent to humans.

I was wondering, have the jinn collected the Surahs of the Quran for their reference.  Otherwise, if they want recourse to the Quran to look up some information for guidance, what do they do?  Of course nothing can be confirmed in this regard as the Noble Quran does not mention anything on this aspect either.  But I was just wondering ....

That's another interesting question which only Allah Almighty can confirm.  However, in my opinion I think it shouldn't be difficult for the jinn to collect the Quranic Surahs for their guidance.   Jinn keep penetrating, probing and sniffing everywhere.  That's how sometimes their presence also becomes known to us which some people call the 'paranormal.'   Furthermore, it's possible that Allah may have delivered to them some pages of the Noble Quran which they need for their spiritual and practical guidance.  This is just a presumption.  Only Allah knows best of course.  But we know for sure that the jinn community does know of the presence of the Quran and many of its contents.
