It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

June 28, 2023, 09:48:39 am Zainab_M: Walaikum As Salaam.  This was the first Hajj open to all after the pandemic. It was attended by 2.6 million Muslims.

Battle and events of Karbala in images.

Do not look upon Hussein merely as a hero of the Shiia sect.  Hussein is an universal symbol of RESISTANCE against injustice, oppression and corruption.

Imam Hussein's convoy arrives in Karbala.

Two men from Yazid's army offering loyalty to the Imam which he accepts.

Soon after Hussein's arrival in Karbala and prior to the start of the preemptive battle, his opponents never stopped badgering him trying to coerce him into declaring allegiance to a corrupt self-imposed 'king.'  Let it be known, Muawiyah bin Abu Sufian, the first ruler of the Ommayads, died in 60 AH (680 AD).  In complete violation of Islamic principles, he appointed his son Yazid as his successor, converting the caliphate into a dynasty.  Over and above that, his son Yazid was not even a person of good repute.

The injured Imam minutes away from martyrdom.  After he died, he was beheaded on the orders of Yazid and his head was taken to Yazid's court in Damascus while the Imam's headless body lay on the battlefield bleeding. According to some reports it lay there for 2 or 3 days until the news spread among the residents of Karbala that the body of a grandson of the Final Messenger was left lying on the battlefield of Karbala unattended.

Battlefield of Karbala - the killing pit.  It's the day and place when and where the sun began to set forever, leaving nothing but divisions and fitna in the Ummah.  Peace be on you, O Hussein!

Study the history of the Battle of Karbala at "Who is Hussein - The Full Story of Hussein bin Ali"

Quotes from Ashura ::

"The HERO of this epic saga is Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Final Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad. His valor was unmatched, and his compassion without equal."

"Hussain's role prior to the battle of Karbala was that of a man esteemed not simply for his lineage, but his mesmarising personality and compassionate character. Additionally, he was the person best suited for the Caliphate."

"Hussein had the option of opting out. In fact, he was strongly advised to abandon his mission and accept the status quo, but he showed an incredible defiance which shocked even his own family."

“If Husain had fought to quench his worldly desires…then I do not understand why his sister, wife, and children accompanied him. It stands to reason therefore, that he sacrificed purely [for humanity].” - Charles Dickens, a British novelist.

"In a distant age and climate the tragic scene of the death of Hussain will awaken the sympathy of the coldest reader."  -  Edward Gibbon, British historian & member of Parliament.

"The tragedy of Karbala decided not only the fate of the caliphate, but of the kingdoms long after the Caliphate had waned and disappeared."  - Sir William Muir, Scottish scholar & Statesman.

Unfortunately history repeated itself in Karbala hundreds of years later.

Mash'Allah, what a dynamic art gallery.  Really good.

Btw, for those interested in some brief and quick information on the circumstances leading to the battle of Karbala, here's the summary of it:

Kufa, a garrison town in what is now Iraq, had been Caliph ‘Alī's capital and many of his supporters lived there. Husayn ibn Ali received many letters from the Kufans expressing their offer of support if he claimed the caliphate.  As he prepared for the journey to Kufa, Abdullah ibn Umar and Abdullah ibn Abbas pleaded vigorously against his plan and entreated him to at least leave the women and children in Mecca if he was determined to proceed to Kufa, but Husayn ignored their suggestions. On the way, he received the report of his cousin Muslim ibn Aqeel's death at the hands of Yazid's men and the apathy and indifference displayed by the people of Kufa. The Kufans had changed their loyalty and decided to support Yazid, pledging support to him against Husayn and his followers. They were trying to restore Kufa's power against Damascus, the Umayyad capital, in which case they chose diplomacy with Yazid at the cost of rejecting Husayn.

Husayn and his followers, among them relatives of Muslim ibn Aqeel (who were furious over the murder of their relative and wanted to avenge his death), were resolved to continue on to Kufa. At the same time Ubayd-Allah ibn Ziyad, governor of Basrah, executed one of Husayn's messengers and then addressed the people and warned them to avoid the insurgency. He sent a message in accordance with the instructions of Yazid: "You can neither go to Kufa nor return to Mecca, but you can go anywhere else you want." Despite this, Husayn departed towards Kufa and during the trip, he and many members
of his family were killed or captured at the Battle of Karbala.

The complications of Yazid's accession to the Caliphate didn't end there. Many Muslims refused to give their oath of allegiance to Yazid simply because they saw it as usurpation of power and not the proper way of choosing a Caliph by the Shura or Council. The most prominent among these resistors was Abdullah ibn Zubayr.

Abdullah ibn Zubayr opposed Yazid's position as Caliph. He launched an insurgency in the Hejaz. Yazid sent armies against him in 683. After the Battle of al-Harrah, Medina was recaptured and Mecca was also besieged. During the siege, the Ka‘bah was damaged. The siege ended when Yazid died suddenly in 683 AD.  Reasons of Yazid's death are conflicting.  One version says he went hunting with his party of men, then he broke off from them for a while but apparently they lost each other and Yazid's remains were found a few days later, attacked and killed by wild beasts.  The other version says he died of plague. What is certain is that he died only three years after the tragic incident of Karbala at age 38 and was buried in an unmarked grave, no one can confirm where, except that somewhere in present day Syria.

Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.9:111

How time flies.  Here comes our first Islamic month of Muharram and the Islamic new year, 1437.

"It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees" - Imam Hussein .. the universal symbol of triumph of REVOLUTIONS and DEFEAT of OPPRESSORS and RENEGADES; an event that will keep the spirit of uprising alive forever. Writes Washington Irving, American historian & author of the 19th century: "Imam Hossein's soul will remain forever under the scorching sun and on the hot sands of Karbala."  Resistance against injustice is not a choice. It is mandatory for the survival of human dignity and justice regardless of the sacrifices and the odds stacked up against the resisting army.

Muawiyah bin Abu Sufian, the first ruler of the Ommayads, died in 60 AH (680 AD).  In complete violation of Islamic principles, he appointed his son Yazid as his successor, converting the caliphate into a dynasty.  If Hussein wanted he could have very easily saved his life by caving in to the coercion of the Ommayad king, Yazid I, and declaring his allegiance to a disreputable ruler.  But his principles would NOT allow him to take such a step.  Nothing could sway him from the path of his beloved grandfather and the Final Messenger of Allah.  Neither Hussein nor his family felt the slightest fear to fight till the end, defending Islam from corruption, autocracy and the tyranny that comes with it.  What is important in the Sight of Allah is the intention and the depth of one's effort, not the extent of earthly achievement.

Starting from 60 A.H., the first month of our Islamic calendar has been that time of the year when a tender scar erupts into a painful wound once again. The profound grief leaves one numb and distracted. Despondency deepens to realize that similar injustice prevails within the pan-Islamic world and far beyond. Millions continue to tread the path of injustice, corruption and tyranny but very few have worked to build aspirations from the memories of beloved Hussein.

Rest in peace dearest brave leader, in the loving care of The Almighty, The One, The Only, The Bountiful, The Eternal.
