It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

As-Salam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, dear everyone.

"The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, though there is good in both."  (Narrated Abu Huraira, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2664).

Although I'm aware the Hadith institution says many absurd and senseless things, until now I was sure that at least this hadith meant strength/weakness of Faith and morals.   But there was quite a furor last week about it at our Islamic community where several Hadithists said it refers to physical strength / weakness.  That didn't make sense.  How  could that be true?   Needless to say, physical weakness on account of poor health is not the fault of the person.  Even if a person is negligent of their health which makes them physically weak cannot be perceived as 'bad people' hated by Allah Almighty as long as their Faith is strong and they have love for Allah in their hearts.  Moreover elderly people always get frail.  The Noble Quran itself mentions old age as weakness after strength ... "Allah is He Who shaped you out of weakness, then appointed after weakness strength, then, after strength, appointed weakness and grey hair. He creates what He will. He is the Knower, the Mighty."  (30:54).  This is a description of the Laws of Nature as ordained by The Almighty.   Verse 30:54 does NOT say anything to make anyone think weakness and grey hair are negative issues making a person less loved by Allah Almighty nor does the Quran even come close to conveying any such concept.   So I am wondering even from the Hadithist view point, how can people derive such absurd ideas and then attribute them to the beloved Prophet (pbuh).   Would the Prophet (pbuh) of all persons, ever say something so erroneous?  Impossible.   While I don't for a minute accept that the Prophet (pbuh) ever said this, my point is, how did this false hadith float about?   What can be the purpose behind such false babblings?

Indeed it's nonsense.   Actually this hadith is lengthier but is often abbreviated and stated just that much as you quoted.  And so comes the concept of physically healthier person being more beloved to Allah Almighty than a physically weaker one.  Totally wrong.   Though I'm not a Hadithist, at least Hadith followers should try to correct this misunderstanding.  Instead they have turned into apologists defending this incorrect notion claiming that a healthy person can worship Allah for a longer stretch of time, a healthy person doesn't need to sit on a chair or couch to pray, that a healthy person doesn't need to lie on their bed to offer prayer, a healthy people can awaken for Fajr more easily, a healthy people can fast more easily, a healthy person can perform Hajj more easily and so on.  But first off, they completely ignore the Quran which disregards such concepts as highlighted by apologists.  Secondly, Allah Almighty sees a person's innermost intentions rather than just their outward acts of worship.   It goes without saying that at heart and soul, a physically weak person's iman can be far stronger than a physically strong person even if that weaker person is not able to perform all acts of worship as easily and comfortably as the stronger person.   Devotion to Allah of a person who is frail and ill can be much more at heart than a healthy one.   It goes without saying, this isn't anything to worry about for the physically weak person.   But as we've observed many times, hadith ignores intentions altogether.

Then again this false hadith tries to lessen its absurdity by saying  " .. though there is good in both."  However, this last part cannot erase the absurdity already mentioned in the beginning claiming  “The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer," ... which does appear to be referring to physical strength, and that's nonsense.

According to various other sources this Hadith goes about differently to clarify it refers to stronger iman not stronger body.   They quote the complete Hadith as follows.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The strong believer (mu'min) is more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, but there is goodness in both of them.  Be eager for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be frustrated. If something befalls you, then do not say: If only I had done something else. Rather say: Allah has decreed what he wills. Verily, the  phrase ‘if only’ opens the way for the work of Satan.”   (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2664).

Now, I'm not sure if the word "mu'min" in bracket and the contents after the first sentence have been forged later or what?  Only Allah Almighty would know that best.  But this detailed version above sounds more sensible and apparently refers strength of iman and morals.   Nonetheless, many Hadith experts still prefer to stick to the absurd interpretation of physical strength.

My humble advise to all readers is, please ignore such drivel.  Just be focused on the Noble Quran which covers all aspects we need to know.

hummmm .... I think the word mu'min in bracket and the contents after the first sentence of this hadith have been added later.  When, only Allah knows, most likely around the same period of time when it was narrated or compiled.   Such tactics are not uncommon in hadith.  Often when hadith circles realize something sounds much too insensible, they try to correct it with additions or subtractions.

Well analyzed Sister Heba.

I see, I get it.  When you point out a problem about a hadith to a hadithist, they prefer to cling to the problem rather than corrections.

It's all about ego.   If they agree to corrections, it would be an acknowledgement that the hadith was wrong  😆
