November 01, 2023, 03:43:43 pm Ruhi_Rose: Yes .. making lots of dua everyday ..... watching those real life video clips, my face feels wet with tears all the time.  May ALLAH grant the best to these wonderful, brave & steadfast martyrs,  Ameen ya Allah.
November 01, 2023, 03:38:26 pm Zainab_M: Keep praying, praying a lot for Gaza. It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.
October 26, 2023, 03:40:19 pm N. Truth Seeker: Don't forget to look up MV Blog Zainab's Lounge for our Gaza updates.
October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Traditionalists say jinn eat bones, animal dung and charcoal.  This got me a little confused.  I asked my neighborhood imam what bones do they eat?  He said bones which is used for performing black magic and sorcery.  Somehow this idea of eating dung and bones doesn’t make sense to me.  Can anyone throw some light on this issue so I am better informed.

Salam and peace.   Stories about bones, dung, crap and charcoal are entirely from hadith.  I would advise you to completely ignore them.  There are many more myths released by hadith, some are totally senseless and some resemble the tales of evil spirits in fictions.  You need to overlook all these nonsensical stuff altogether otherwise your confusion will deepen by the day.

To learn authentically about the jinn, focus only on the Quran.  You will get a lot of help if you read our post Jinn in the Noble Quran and all its links at the end of this post.

Getting food for the jinn isn’t a difficult task for them. They can eat wild fruits, fish from the rivers or streams, they can catch, cook and eat birds, they can make themselves visible looking like humans, get a job (temporary if not permanent), work, earn some money and then buy food like humans do. And if jinn need water like humans, they can get it from a lot of places.  These are all possibilities but only Allah knows the precise facts in this regard.  What we know for sure as conveyed to us in the Noble Quraan is that Allah Almighty has made provisions for all His creation.  It is a matter of rizq (provision) as called in Arabic or arzaq (plural, provisions).  After all, wild animals and birds have their own ways of getting food and water for themselves, don’t they?   Sea or water creatures have their own sources of sustenance.  We humans have our own ways, and similarly the jinn have their own.   For all, their provisions are provided by The Almighty.

“And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage.  All is in a clear register.” 11:6 Surah Hud.

Also Allah says in Surah Al-Imraan, “Allah Provides sustenance to whom He pleases without measure." 3:37.

Allah Almighty has made it ample clear in the Noble Quran that He provides sustenance or provision (rizq) to everyone and whoever He pleases.

This also includes provision in the Hereafter.  “Those who believe and do good works, for them is pardon and a rich provision;”  22:50 Al-Hajj.   This Verse refers to provision in the Hereafter for the righteous.   The same point is also stated in V.34:4 Surah Saba and V.3:169 of Surah Al-Imraan where Allah Almighty mentions the provision (rizq) for martyrs in Paradise, quote “And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Rab, receiving provision,”  3:169 Al-Imraan.

Similarly one can be certain that Allah Almighty also provides sustenance for the jinn, as He has already confirmed in His Final Message that He provides for every living creature He pleases.   It’s better to leave it at that, not go beyond the boundaries into issues not mentioned nor confirmed by Allah.  Searching for Truth through non-Quranic contents is not only a waste of time but also very confusing because as I’ve already stated dozens of non-Quranic sources have put forth their own puff pieces which are nothing beyond contradictory and confusing tales that can do a lot more harm than good to a knowledge seeker.  The Truth is only in the Quran, and whatever details Allah has not stated in the Quran is because those specifics are not necessary for us to know from the viewpoint of acquiring guidance.  But Allah knows everything and He takes care of everyone.

Thank u for clarification with the Quran verses, and thanks for the link.

Some ulemas also claim there are several different categories of jinn.  This is also extra-Quran information, right?

You're welcome.

..

Yes, it's completely extra-Quranic.  The Noble Quran simply states the existence of the jinn whom Allah created of smokeless fire.  He has not confirmed nor even mentioned anything about different categories of jinn. Rather we know that jinn like humans have the ability to decide and choose their path of conduct, and thus Satan (who is a jin) chose to be disobedient and became an outcast.

I was recently watching a lecture by a scholar of progressive Muslims website.  He said in arabic Jinn means those creatures or beings which cannot be seen by eye. This also means bactarias and viruses are jinns cause they're invisible.  Is this correct?

No not correct.  Bacteria and viruses can be seen by lab equipment.  Jinn cannot be seen, unless perhaps if the jinn wish to make themselves visible to humans, not exclusively to lab technicians.

Very correctly elucidated Sister Heba.  Alhumdulilah.

Some opinions say humans are a much more beautiful creation. Even the good looking jinn typically don't look as good as humans.  Quran says Allah has created man in the very best of forms.  You agree?

Allah Almighty says in the Quran "Surely We created man of the best stature"  (95:4) Surah At-Tin.   In this Verse, the original Arabic word for the translated word "stature" is  تَقْوِيمٍ (taqwīmin).  The literal dictionary translation of this word is ‘evaluation.’   The term most commonly used in English translations for taqwimin is  “stature.”  Other translators have also used words like “form” or “shape” or “mould” or “state.”

“Stature” refers to repute gained by ability and achievement.  It doesn’t mean having a pretty face.  Similarly in translated words like “shape” or “mould” or “state” the reference, in my humble opinion, is to the human capacity of moral development, not external good looks.  A person who is morally strong will automatically reflect outward charm.  But those who are morally corrupt from the inside, regardless of how they look from the outside are insignificant and in the Sight of Allah Almighty they are worthless.

Thus if you read the complete content of Verses 95:4-5, quote:

“Surely We created man of the best stature, Then we reduced him to the lowest of the low,”  95:4-5.

This alludes to the reality that though Allah Almighty has granted humans the capacity to grow morally, yet there are many who don’t make efforts to grow and remain morally & ethically stunted.  Such people are denied the guidance of Allah because they never tried to acquire it.

Thus, to conclude, I cannot confirm nor can I assume that V.95:4 implies only humans are good looking and all jinn are ugly.  Intellectually humans do have greater capacity to learn and progress compared to the jinn.  But aesthetically only Allah knows best.

One thing I am sure about jinns that they can sometimes also fall in love with humans.  There was once a lady jinn who fell in love with my cousin.  He had a big garden around his house in a rural area and whenever he would sit in the garden by himself alone, she would appear out of the blue and just smile and stare at him.  Cousin knew something was different, not too normal.  After seeing her twice or thrice, he started getting scared.  Then she got upset and would ask him ‘why do you get so tense when you see me, what have I done to harm you’?

Soon after the cousin got a job in another country.  He returned to that family house after 2 years.  Then didn't see anything any more.
