It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

Well perceived Sister Heba.  We were also discussing this topic the other day and my sister's sister-in-law asked, what about those who might have been innocent who died?   If any innocents died, they have nothing to worry.  Death is never a punishment itself.  Punishment is only the tough outcome people realize they have earned once they go to the permanent world.

Btw, which areas of Syria are under government control and which parts under the proxy invaders?  Any idea?

Very true sister Ruhi.  Agree 100%.

About 60% under government control and 40% Kurdish control though I'm not sure how much of the infrastructure has been rebuilt.  That's excluding the earthquake.   Small pockets of the proxy invaders still remain.  The following is a good map showing the way it was until 2019.  Not much as changed from what I know.

I heard over half million have been affected in the Syrian port city of Tartus.  This was a government stronghold during the war, right?   Half a million .... too much! 😯

Right, a little over half a million affected in Tartous, and that's not the highest number affected in Syria.  2.04 million in Aleppo, 1.28 million in Hama, 1.21 million in Lattakia, 963,000 in Homs and 28,000 in Idlib.

Yes, Tartous was a government stronghold.

The small bit of good news appears to be the World Food Program said there is enough ready-to-eat food inside northwest Syria to assist 125,000 people and is providing this to local partners.  But what food for 125,000 in such a massive total of affected people is just a drop in the bucket.

Exactly .. that's why everyone is saying the relief organizations sending food and aid have no idea of the scale of devastation in Syria.  They are only focused on Turkiye.

I certainly don't agree with Muqtada al-Sadr either, so I won't take up his view at all.

Of course such matters are precisely known only to Allah.  HE decides at some point on every issue based on every aspect of peoples' intent and actions.  We can only guess.  Though certain of our guessed assessments may appear right, there will be many we cannot understand because we don't know the inside story.  But Allah knows every bit of everything.

We were all following the Syrian war closely and Turkiye's role in it.  That was one thing for which Erdogan's policies (enthusiastically supporting the invaders to the delight of the West and Israel) remain unforgivable.  As the various factions of AQ fighters went on deadly rampages for almost a decade starting 2011 - murder, rape, arson, destruction of Syria's infrastructure including those beautiful historical Mosques, human trafficking etc. - much of all this was concentrated between the border areas of the two countries.  Take a look at the map of both places.   Most AQ human traffickers aided by groups of various Syrian "rebels" carried out most of their human trafficking of helpless Syrian women and girls torn apart from their families or kidnapped through those borders into Turk towns of Sanliurfa, Gaziantep and Diyabakir.  These places became fully fledged 'markets' of selling females to those oil rich Arab tycoons in UAE, Qatar, Kuwait etc.   Not to mention the mayhem by AQ terrorists and the unconscientious "rebels" inside Syria in places like Aleppo, Idlib, Raqqa, Lattakia.  Several of those terrorists and "rebels" are still residing in those territories and the treacherous elements of the Syrian population are still supporting them.  These are the areas badly hit by the earthquake.  That doesn't exonerate the Syrian government which also made many mistakes.  I'm not talking about Assad being a "dictator."  But as the Syrian war progressed, by 2016 or 2017 Assad began showing signs of becoming quite an Islamophobe.  Most of his senior ministers displayed an attitude of foolish treachery on historical events supporting Russian victories against the Ottomans and in present times promoting Syria's secularism on rigid Western lines .. even though Arab secularism is a whole lot different from western secularism as maintained during the times of Hafez al-Assad.  Bashar largely forgot that.  They all started viewing the Ottomans as synonymous with Erdogan's rule which is much too ridiculous.  Bashar al-Assad lost all compassion for the suffering Muslims in other countries such as the Palestinians, Yemenis, Kashmiris, Rohingyas.  In an interview with an Indian journalist he even supported Delhi's stance of occupying Kashmir with not a shred of sympathy nor awareness of how badly India has been treating the Muslims in the occupied region of Kashmir.  He also refused to sympathize with the Rohingyas suffering ethnic cleansing since 2012.  He also did not support the homegrown revolution of Yemen even though Ansarullah of Yemen is a staunch ally of Hezb'Allah which has been pivotal is helping Assad to win the Syrian war.  Erdogan, as we know, has his own share of mistakes that is largely reflected in the suffering of many Syrians in those parts of eastern Turkiye.  These are just a few things we saw and know.  There are surely many other violations that should never have happened which we don't know.  But Allah knows everything.

I personally think this string of wrongdoings from both sides may be viewed as at least one of the causes.  But only HE knows best.

I also think in regard to Turkiye, it is largely a message for Tayyip Erdogan.  He enthusiastically supported and facilitated this war for a decade for nothing except hurt and breaking ties with a brotherly neighbor at a time when the Ummah needs unity.  He may have benefitted from this war monetarily by making deals with his western partners and by the mass plunder of Syrian resources in Aleppo, but neither his country nor his people gained anything.  Those border areas of Turkiye from where foreign fighters trained by CIA entered Syria carrying out aggressive invasions were, among others, the places shattered by the earthquake.  The devastation in Turkiye is even more than Syria, quite more.  The devastation caused in Aleppo by 10 years of war backed by Erdogan, was seen by him in his own country in less than 10 minutes.  Allah Yerhamo.  I hope this earthquake was a wake up call for all those in Turkiye who unnecessarily supported this war.  Of course, Assad too later displayed certain attitudinal issues (as you mentioned) that were unbecoming of a Muslim leader.

My dad was saying exactly the same.  While both sides made mistakes, the greater bulk of blunders came from Erdogan because he was the aggressive party who initiated the turmoil .. and now unexpectedly he is left to clear up a larger bulk of the rubble after the most devastating earthquake in his country's history.  Even if the constant meltdown of his ego doesn't permit him to acknowledge publicly, I hope at least he realizes it within himself and never repeats such a catastrophic mistake again.
