and a pretty quick one.   My mom learned it from a Pakistani sister.  They also call it "bessan" halwa.  Bessan is the local term for gram flour.

Ingredients:

1 cup of Gram Flour Halwa
3/4 (three-quarter) cup of Sugar
1/2 (half) cup of Corn or Canola Oil
1 cup of Whole Milk
cup of Water
Cardamom seeds
Few drops of kewra water

Method:

Heat the oil in a heavy based pot.  Add the gram flour and continue cooking on medium heat, (continuously stirring) until the gram flour turns light brown.

Add milk, kewra water and cardamom seeds and stir for a few minutes.  Add the half cup of water.  Stir till thick.

Last, add sugar, stir for 10 minutes till thick, then take off the cooker.  Spread on a serving flat dish.  Garnish with sliced nuts, if desired.

Optional:  While adding milk, a small handful of raisins can also be added.
