Alhamdulilah, very illuminating piece of lecture.  The 2 most important points that resonated were

1) In the Quran religion is presented as spirituality plus practicality.  Thus there's no question of separating religion from our lives.

2) The concept of unity and complete superiority of the Almighty God is indispensible to grasp the essence of the Quran.  Without this, it will be hard if not impossible for one to comprehend even the purpose of the Quran.  And it's inherent of human nature that whenever they're unable to comprehend something within their own limited thoughts, the outcome is denial. 

As for Harun Yahya, I must say, he seems to have 2 sides to him.  Some of his talks (like this one) are so enlightening that conform to the Truth in the Quran with very intelligent logic.  But certain of his writings / lectures go quite awry.  Just to pick one as an example, a couple of months ago I was reading one of his articles about the return of Mahdi, a topic not at all supported by the Quran.  All his arguments were based on Hadith and also the source of all his justifications for Imam Mahdi to return.  Of course I realize that many such scholars despite being aware of the follies of Hadith and its disagreement with the Quran prefer to keep silent for fear of being ostracized by the mainstream scholars.  Perhaps Yahya Harun is also trying to walk carefully on this fine line.
