It's worse than a prison .. it's a concentration camp.  Children as young as 10 or 11 are having to care for their younger siblings ages 2, 3 and 4 becoz many have lost both parents.  It's a very, very, very tearful situation there.

October 20, 2023, 04:24:44 pm Zainab_M: Right sister Heba.  Gaza hospital bombing has the fingerprints of Israel all over it.  For Israel this is no big crime.  They have done this and much worse many times in the past and intend to do the same and worse many more times in near future.
October 20, 2023, 04:20:20 pm Heba E. Husseyn: Catching Zionist lies isn't hard. Soon after Gaza hospital bombing killing and maiming hundreds, Israel was quick to accuse Islamic Jihad of a misfired rocket.  That didn't sound plausible because IJ does not have such sophisticated bombing devices.  Zionist lie was fully exposed when anglican archbishop of Jerusalem,Hosam Naoum,  said today that 3 or 4 days prior to boming Israel had warned Gaza hospital to evacuate. Yet CIA claims in its flawed analysis that the rocket did not come from Israel.  But conveniently does not explain how Israel could have known 4 days earlier that a "misfired" rocket from IJ was coming.  Yet on the basis of this flawed & bias analysis of CIA, Biden is comforting Israel he believes Israel didn't do that war crimes bombing.

June 28, 2023, 09:48:39 am Zainab_M: Walaikum As Salaam.  This was the first Hajj open to all after the pandemic. It was attended by 2.6 million Muslims.

 salamem  to everyone

During every month of Ramadan I hear the imams repeating in their lectures that all other forms of worship are for ourselves but only fasting is for Allah.  This idea is supposed to have been derived from a hadith of
Imam Malik. [/font]Now, I really cannot understand the logic behind it.  Apart from the clear fact that it's against the ruling of the Quran, as usual, it's not making any sense to me.  The Noble Quran has made it very plain that whatever good we do, it is for the benefit of our own souls and that Allah is totally independent of us.  Accordingly, there's a verse in the Quran which says that whosoever strives, strives only for himself for Allah is altogether independent of His creatures.  I think this is enough to discard Malik's hadith completely.  When acts of worship like salaah, zakah and hajj are for the good of our own souls, on what basis does fasting become different?  We can say that we perform all forms of worship are for the sake of Allah, meaning that they are a response of our love for Him and our obedience to Him.  But this does not signify that Allah needs our worship or is dependent on our worship whether it's salaah, fasting, zakah or hajj.  It's interesting to note that when the imams and 'scholars' quote this hadith in their lectures, they never explain on what basis the hadith makes this distinction between fasting and other forms of worship.  Perhaps they're trying to say that avoiding food, drink and physical intimacy with spouses requires greater will-power than other forms of worship.  But well, everyone does not consider this to be true.  Most importantly, the idea is based on Malik's personal opinion trumpeted by his followers.  The Quran does not uphold this idea.  The Quran uses the terms 'stedfastness' or 'perseverence' in connection with all difficult situations when one is required to be patient and tolerant, depending upon when a person may feel that they're being tested.  This can of course include fasting in the case of some people, but it's very improper to make such a rule  by misquoting Allah when the Quran does not say anything to this affect.

May Allah guide the misguided folks among us.

yeah right.  This idea comes from various hadith writings and Malik's hadith is one of them.  I too disagree with this concept as it seems to suppose that humans are doing a favour to Almighty God by fasting for Him.  If it's suppose to mean that fasting is for God based on our love for Him, that's of course true.  But in that case all forms of worship are for the love of Almighty Allah.

Great piece.  Makes a lot of sense.  Those who uphold the concept have never attempted to explain this difference between fasting and other forms of worship .. of course that's because they are blindly quoting the hadith writers without even thinking once about what they accept.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this sister. Much appreciate it.
I agree with your logic...there are just too many things wrong with what Sunni speakers say.
